MALAYSIAN BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION (MBA)
Formed
in 1959, MBA is the national body for Chinese-speaking monks and nuns and
temples from the Mahayana tradition. Its building at 182, Burmah Road,
10050, Penang, Malaysia also houses the independently managed Buddhist
Free School and Malaysian Buddhist Institute.
YOUNG BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION OF MALAYSIA (YBAM)
Being the most active national body and uniting more than 250 organizations from different language media, racial origins and traditions, YBAM has been playing the major role in the propagation of the Buddha dharma in Malaysia since its formation in 1970. BUDDHIST MISSIONARY SOCIETY (BMS)
The Buddhist Missionary Society was founded by Ven. Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda Nayaka Maha Thera, who is the most-respected Buddhist leader in the mind of the English-speaking Buddhists in Malaysia. MALAYSIAN FO KUANG BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION
Inspired by Grand Master Hsing Yun from Taiwan who has many followers in Malaysia, the Malaysian Fo Kuang Buddhist Association is closely associated with the Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA), a fast growing world Buddhist movement led by the Grand Master himself. BUDDHIST TZU-CHI MERIT SOCIETY (MALAYSIA)
Inspired by Ven. Zheng-Yen, a Buddhist nun well-known for her well-organized and large-scale social charity work in Taiwan, the formation of Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merit Society (Malaysia) immediately attracted support from Malaysian Buddhists who are always willing and generous in contribution towards deserving social causes. SASANA ABHIWURDHI WARDHANA SOCIETY
Formed in 1894, the Sasana Abhiwurdhi Wardhana Society is the national body for Sri Lankan Buddhists who belong to the Theravada tradition. Address: 123, Jalan Berhala, off Jalan Tun Sambanthan, 50490 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
