WWWCentaur Board Posting # xxxx
The following posting was made on May 6, 1998.
OVERVIEW:
There isn't much happening here, thank goodness. That lack of activity has made it possible for E-team members to spend more time analyzing the overall results as opposed to the incremental changes. They were suffering from data overload.
Now that I'm a centaur, I'm thinking about discontinuing these medical updates. The changes over the last week have been minor ones. I'm hoping that the trend continues. I'm getting tired of having to rearrange my life every few weeks.
ITEM ONE: Pelvic changes--Bone (See Item Eight)
ITEM TWO: Pelvic changes--Soft Organs (See Item Eight)
ITEM THREE: Pelvic changes--Were-Spheres
'George' is continuing his detailed analysis of historical data and using lots of computer time on an extremely fast computer. When the rest of the E-team asks what he is doing, he just smiles and says that he is catching up on his correlation's.
When I ask what he is doing, the answer depends upon how I ask. I get three different responses, one per persona.
As Ms. Dee, long time friend and research project, I get a smile and the correlation comment. He'll then call me 'Misty, dear' and politely try to convince me that three more biopsies would greatly advance our research efforts. Since the last ones still give me twinges, I politely decline.
As Misty of Varna, the lost little filly, I get a smile, a pat on the head ('George' has to stretch for that) and a treat. If I work extra hard at being a 'good girl' I can get a kindergarten explanation of an aspect of his research that he hasn't mentioned to the others. He then asks me to keep it a secret until the research is complete. He does it in such a way that I'm almost convinced that he's convinced that I am Misty of Varna.
Either we're both good actors, or one of us is losing his/her grip on reality. Oddly enough, 'George' doesn't ask Misty of Varna for permission to do a biopsy. I think that he thinks she is too young.
As Misty, the exotic dancer, I get a wistful look, a sigh and the correlation comment. Then he'll change the topic.
ITEM FOUR: Lactation
No change. I'm still flat chested. Hormone levels hint that I'm going to remain this way until I hit puberty. When that will be, if ever, is anybody's guess.
ITEM FIVE: Cumulative changes (See Items Eight or Nine)
ITEM SIX: Mental/Physical Health
Physically I haven't been this healthy since I was a kid.
'Arnold,' my veterinarian, thinks I'm healthier than that. In his opinion my foalish shape is too coordinated and too muscular for it's apparent age. If I were a foal, I shouldn't be moving the way I've been moving for the amount of time I'm moving.
Mentally, I hope that things will settle down and stop changing. I'm way behind on my work and I can't afford to go face-to-face with my clients and explain what has been happening. I'm also having problems remembering that my liaison with the client believes that I'm a human male. I've had to modify a grammar checker to verify that my e-mail correspondence doesn't have centaur specific terms in it.
It would be much, much easier if I could be Ms. Dee or Misty full time. But I can't change my 'professional' name and my clients are much too conservative to employ a transsexual, much less a transsexual centaur.
On the other hand, they are sensitive to affirmative action and hiring competent minorities. As a female and a centaur I should qualify as a minority.
Outside of work I think I'm in good shape. I have decided that the 'real' me is an intelligent and talented centaur filly who had spent several years in an ill fitting form. Being in that ill fitting form was a necessary experience because it gave me a feel for human society from the perspective of someone who doesn't fact racial/sexual prejudices or glass ceilings.
As a centaur filly, I do have the physical problem of being too young for my mental age. I'm ignoring the problem at this time on the basis that my mental, torso and equine maturity levels are normal. If they are, then so much the better.
I'm also wondering what puberty will be like. Will equine and human parts mature in synch with each other?
ITEM SEVEN: Cravings
I can now have alfalfa hay and oats with my formula and vitamins. The colostrum, or something, may have helped.
I can also eat small amounts of chocolate and other sweets. Meat, fried foods and other human style foods are out though.
ITEM EIGHT: Equine Body
The overall shape hasn't changed much. The most visible change is around the rib cage. I look underweight but not starving.
ITEM NINE: Human Body
No substantial changes from the last time. My torso has gained enough weight to go from anorexic to underweight.
That covers the world as I see it. I need to get back to the project I thought I was winding up last week.
Bye for now,
Ms. Dee (Future professional name)
Misty ('Pet' name)
ADDENDUM: Had some server problems when I tried to post this. While waiting for the server to come back on line, my wife and I watched the centaur sequence from Fantasia. Pearl, the pony we think is responsible for my centaurized condition, appears to be fascinated by the sequence. One of these days we'll figure out a way to test her intelligence.
