| Went down to Northfield. I had not been there for eight years. |
| Everything looks natural here. Well am about discouraged. I |
| wish I had never went into it any way. |
| Thursday, May 21, 1891 |
| Arthur and I went to Waterford fishing. It has been eight years |
| since I was on Cannon River. We caught some fish. |
| Sunday, May 24, 1891 |
| This is a cold cloudy day. It seems so lonesome don't know |
| any one here. I wrote two letters today one to Sister Kate and |
| one to Annie Kerrick. |
| Friday, May 29, 1891 |
| I commenced laying floor for Charley Merritt. Worked three |
| days and then got out of work. |
| Saturday, May 30, 1891 |
| This is memorial day. The sons of veterans and the D.A.R. |
| marched through the streets. I will join the Sons of Veterans |
| some time. They looked so nice marching along all in |
| uniform and their muskets shown in the sun. In the evening I |
| went to see a drama called the Spy of Atlanta. It was very |
| good. It was got up by the Sons of Veterans of Northfield. |
