R. Carlos Nakai, Canyon Trilogy, Vol.5

R. Carlos Nakai, Changes, Vol. 1

R. Carlos Nakai, Cycles, Vol. 2

R. Carlos Nakai, Desert Dance

R. Carlos Nakai, Earth Spirit, Vol. 4

R. Carlos Nakai, Emergence, Vol.6

R. Carlos Nakai, Island of Bows

R. Carlos Nakai, Journeys, Vol. 3

R. Carlos Nakai, Kokopelli's Cafe

R. Carlos Nakai, Mythic Dreamer

R. Carlos Nakai, Spirit Horses:  Concerto for Native Americans

R. Carlos Nakai, Sundance Season

R. Carlos Nakai& Paul Horn, Inside Canyon DeChelly

Lots to choose from here, but you can't really go wrong with any Carlos selection.  Carlos is a master of the flute and a master of spirit and seems to integrate these as he creates the sounds of  connection and liberation.  I always end up somehow at Mesa Verde in my visualizations as I hear the wind in Nakai's music.  I thought the Paul Horn collaboration weakened the usual energy of Nakai, others love this particular work.   I would say that Nakai is without peer.  [Lots of Nakai to listen to at Amazon]

Native Flute Ensemble, Riding Thunder

A favorite at Spiritwalk.   Great Listening, a bit intense for meditation

Richard Warner, Quiet Heart/SpiritWind

In Native American style,  the native flute sounds are peaceful and centering.

Celtic Inspired Music

Enya, Paint the Sky with Stars:  The Best of Enya

Enya, Watermark

Enya, The Memory of Trees

Enya, Shepherd Moons

All of Enya's albums are worthwhile although she often sounds the same to me.  If that is the case for you also, then be sure to get the Best of Enya.   Hard to pick a favorite of the individual albums, they are all consistently good.   I think Watermark is my personal favorite...also, the one I've been playing longest.  RE

Loreena McKennit, The Book of Secrets

Jazz

Dave Brubeck Quartet, Time Out

The Jazz Album to own.  Brubeck and Paul Desmond on his silky smooth sax produce the classics Take Five and Rondo ala Turk.

sketchspain.gif (15820 bytes)

Miles Davis, Sketches of Spain

Probably the "coolest" album of all time, Miles Davis reaches into his own Soul and finds Spain.

Claude Bolling, Vintage Bolling

I Couldn't Find Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano (with Jean Pierre Rampal) which is an old time favorite.  This is also an excellent album, a Best of, and contains several cuts from the aforementioned album.  Uplifting, Spirited and Musically Tight yet Casual and very comfortable. Great music to share with others.

    oregon.gif (20030 bytes)

Oregon, Out of the Woods

Mellow Oboe and other Woodwinds.  A classic.

Tony Scott, Music for Zen Meditation (and other joys)

Quiet, Peaceful, Centering.  Scott's Jazz Clarinet teams with  Shakuhachi and Koto

to blend traditional japanese melodies into transformational vibrations.
