St. James feels that new members are an important part of our
families and welcomes prospective members with open arms.
New members are received at St. James several times a year. A number
of orientation sessions are held for prospective members, depending
on their backgrounds and familiarity with the Lutheran denomination.
One of many things covered are opportunities to take part at St.
James, which helps new members start to feel at home.A welcoming
dinner is held the Saturday evening before the new members are
installed. This is well attended by the new members,
sponsoring families and other members of the congregation. It
is our way of helping people feel part of our family right away.
New members are then installed the next day in the second service
on Sunday and get another chance to meet even more members of St.
James.
