October 11, 1998:

We drove out to visit my grandmother yesterday ... long drive of 3 hours each way. Passed by an awfull lot of pumpkin patches ...seas of october orange :-).

We had plenty of time for conversation and music.  Nick played that tape I made for him.  Now I've got Dave Mathew's Band going through my head.  Gotta get some CDs in!

Sept 7, 1998:

Even here in foggy San Francisco, it's Hot, Hot, Hot today.  It's so hot,  we might as well be in Stockton.  Only thing to do, is to find some Chris Isaak.  Loaded a few of his CDs, and we're feeling just fine now.

Aug 18, 1998:

Had lunch at Mihn's Garden today.  Yummy, yum,  yum.  Their imperial rolls are lovely. ... ...In the car we played an old tape I made a few years ago.  One of my favorites is still "last Goodbye", by Jeff Buckley (on his album "Grace"). ... ...Now,  I've got a few cds on random: Sheryl CrowLive, Dave Mathew's Band,  & Jump With Joey.

Aug 3, 1998:
The package we sent home from Italy, in the beginning of June,  arrived today.  What was in it?  Since we had just been in western Ireland, it had some sweaters and other warm clothes comepletely useless in the heat of an Italian  summer.  It also had a CD in it!  From a group called la lugh---a mighty fine group of musicians.  Watch out Enya, these guys have something ... and a fantastic fiddler.  I did a search on CD-now for them and came up empty...bummer.

July 27, 1998:

I'm in the mood for some Jazz tonight.  So, I popped in "Anyting goes": a recording by Stephane Grappelli and Yo-Yo Ma.  If you like Cole Porter tunes, you gotta get this.

July 14, 1998:

Yesterday was awful. My sister is getting married, so we had to  go find dresses...It's a painful experience. The people at the  store were really rude to us. It seems that all stores that specialize in weddings hate brides and their friends.

So, now I'm feeling rebelious and a little angry. . .I dug out my Billy Bragg tapes ;-)

July 4 , 1998:

Did you miss me? Well, Europe was great!  I had my trusty CD-player with me, so I brought a few CDs...but I only had time to listen to them on the plane. What did I take? Joan Osborne; Relish. Dave Mathews Band; Crash. Gin Blossoms; New. Itzhak Perlman; recording of Saint-Saens pieces. XTC; Black Sea. Sheryl crow. Annie Lennox; Diva. Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg. Elvis Costello; My Aim is True.
