What Dilemma?

Teenagers all over America are struggling. They are struggling trying to determine who they are, what to wear to school, who are their friends, when to have sex. It is unfortunate, but the media, and many families, tell teenager that sex is okay for them.

Progress towards a Solution

The True Love Waits movement has been a great thing for teenagers. The mainstream media has said, and continues to say that the teenage sexual drive is something that cannot be tamed, that we need to teach safe-sex, not abstinence. True Love Waits has proved the mainstream wrong once again as hundreds of thousands of Christian young people have pledged abstinence until marriage.

God Desires a Special Relationship with Teenagers

God has created us for a relationship with Him. God has made teenagers especially sensitive to His leading and working. Many teenagers have a deeper relationship with God than nine out of ten adults. He has created teenagers to have an intensely personal relationship with Him. However, when young people begin to pair off, their focus shifts from God to something else.

Dating Shifts Teenagers Focus

A one-on-one relationship between a teenage boy and girl always shifts their focus. God desires our focus to be on Him, but when teenagers pair off, the focus invariably shifts to that partner. Even if the relationship remains pure sexually, an emotional attachment develops. When that relationship breaks off, pain and suffering occur.

Emotional Purity

True Love Waits advocated and promoted sexual purity. What I am advocating is the next logical step, emotional purity. Emotional purity is radically different from what the world teaches. The world shows and teaches that love and sex can be given freely, to anyone and everyone. This leads to many problems in future relationships.
