Patterned Papers and Backgrounds
Scrapbooking
- An idea for graduate photos...put your very first resume on these pages. Years from now when you retire, compare your last resume with your first. Could be very entertaining.
- Use your computer to make mats and die-cuts. You can make them whatever size or color you want. Just print on acid-free paper. You can make your own fancy die-cuts and mats using patterned paper.
- Single sheets of pretty printed papers are expensive. Scan wrapping paper
and print on acid free paper. Save the original as master.
- If you have a special baby outfit, an heirloom doily or anything too
bulky to put into an album, color copy it on acid free paper. When doing
doilies or lace from wedding dresses, etc., put a brown paper grocery bag
behind it to give it an antique look. You could even add other items to be
photocopied along with the lace - flowers, lace gloves, lacy hanky, garter,
etc.
- Use fancy edged rulers to make 2-3 inch borders out of patterned paper,
i.e. the rose patterned paper for Mother's Day.
- Mat Christmas photos with plaid paper and put holly stickers or die-cuts
on one or more corners. Green calligraphy words look especially nice with this idea.
- Some greeting cards are acid-free. Test with pH testing pen. Use the
design in the border of a wide mat cut to frame a photo or alone on the page
as a decoration.
- Use punches, ie heart, stars, flowers, to cut out shapes from patterned
paper to make clusters of shapes to scatter around a page -- polka dot
hearts, pastel stars.
- When using costly acid-free paper to make a mat for a photo, cut it to
size, then use an exacto knife to cut out the center portion so you have
more scrap paper available to use for other things. Use this extra paper
for a smaller mat, punches, or other decorative touches.
- Trace or print big, fat letters on patterned paper to make words out of the fancy
paper to put on plain colored acid-free paper. Use themed paper on holiday
pages.
