Tori Amos

Doug's Home Page!

But the fascinating thing about being a musician right now,
and this should give all the college kids hope,
is that this is a time where
if you can't play an instrument,
sing,
or write anything,
you can still be the biggest pop star in the world.
That's quite fantastic isn't it?
Everyone should leave their studies,
go get a record deal
and just put on some tight dresses and shake.
It could be quite huge.

 - Tori Amos, being--
  do you think?--
     maybe a bit sarcatic
in Student Advantage Magazine, Winter 1998.

Last changed/updated: November 16, 1999, 2:00pm MST. What I changed: A little cleaning up of stuff that was no longer relevant. Updated my personal info. Not the last things I changed, but still fairly recent: Added the new Tori-related ways to help RAINN.
(Check back often- you never know what will be new!!)

The "New" graphic means something that has been added, changed, updated, or modified during one of the last couple of updates (probably within the last two or three weeks)..

Click the picture to read about my experience meeting Tori!

I took this picture a long time ago, and then again, and then again, because I couldn't work out the glare problems and stuff... I got this one, which is finally readable and somewhat decent. And then Dr. Amos' name got accidentally erased from my caller ID, so this will have to be good enough. :-) This is "proof," I guess, of my own Tori experience that I talk about on Feel the Word, my Tori Amos web page. :-)

You are visitor number since Feb. 24, 1998.

You can go to the Utah Statesman webpage. I write for the Statesman, Utah State University's campus newspaper. If you follow the Statesman Staff link and then look for my name in the little drop box, you can even read what I've written. :-)

Please go to A Dirty Mouth With Feet, my Tori quotes page, and check out my Books for RAINN section. Here, you can order books that I recommend (my faves, Tori's faves, Tori-related, etc.) from Amazon.com. If you order a book by following one of the special links on my dirty mouth page, 15% of the money will go to me, and I will in turn send that money to RAINN.

Go see my art page, featuring art I love (Munch, Picasso, etc...) and also lots of art that, yes, I myself created. It's an interesting place; you might want to check it out. :-)

IMPORTANT CAUSES
I used to have this information on my main page, but the page got too long. I consider this one of the most important parts of my page, so PLEASE go here!! Make your stay on the Internet beneficial to mankind! :-) Last updated: July 26, 1998.

Personal Info
Current as of 11/16/99.

It's been a while since I updated this section, and lots has changed. I am well into my second year at Utah State University, majoring in print journalism and minoring in sociology. Because of A.P. credits and concurrent enrollment, I am technically a junior, so hopefully I won't be there too long.

Not that I don't like it there; I really do! It's just the whole money and homework thing, as well as the fact that this school is in a miserably small town. :-) A beautiful town, though, and if you have the right friends, there's always plenty to do! I do fairly well in school, but it's not my entire life. Mostly I enjoy being with friends-- ever notice how you don't even have to do anything to have fun with friends? (This friends page is old and desperately needs updating!!!) Anyway, I guess that the rest of my personal info is pretty self-explanatory from this page; if you really need to know something, or you want to get to know me better, email me at heyjupiter1@hotmail.com.

The most recent picture of me. It's my school picture my senior year. (Not my "senior picture;" I actually didn't get senior pictures.) It was taken in September or October 1997. As always, click it if you want to see it bigger.

Can I say something...?

RACISM SUCKS!
SEXISM AND CHAUVINISM SUCK!
AGEISM SUCKS!
HOMOPHOBIA SUCKS!
RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION SUCKS!
PREJUDICE SUCKS!!!!!!

"Pieces of You"
by Jewel

"She's an ugly girl, does it make you want to kill her?
She's an ugly girl, do you want to kick her in her face?
She's an ugly girl, she doesn't pose a threat.
She's an ugly girl, does that make you feel safe?

Ugly girl, ugly girl, do you hate her 'Cause she's pieces of you?

She's a pretty girl, does she make you think nasty thoughts?
She's a pretty girl, do you want to tie her down?
She's a pretty girl, do you call her a b*tch?
She's a pretty girl, did she sleep with your whole town?

Pretty girl, pretty girl, do you hate her 'Cause she's pieces of you?

You say he's a faggot, does it make you want to hurt him?
You say he's a faggot, do you want to bash in his brain?
You say he's a faggot, does he make you sick to your stomach?
You say he's a faggot, are you afraid you're just the same?

Faggot, faggot, do you hate him
'Cause he's pieces of you?

You say he's a Jew, does it mean that he's tight?
You say he's a Jew, do you want to hurt his kids tonight?
You say he's a Jew, he'll never wear that funny hat again.
You say he's a Jew, as though being born were a sin.

Oh Jew, oh Jew, do you hate him
'Cause he's pieces of you?"

I am always looking for online articles, websites, or whatever else about things like anti-semitism and other prejudices, especially ones mentioned in this song, to link to. If you know of *ANY*, please, email me.

Music
Music information has been moved to its own Music page, which is linked below, along with my other pages. In the meantime, click on the word "Music" above to go to my favorite Tori Amos web page.

Links to other sites on the Web
I have tons of stuff bookmarked, and you may find some of it interesting. The links below are my favorite bookmarks, but if you want to see more (art, Tori, magazines, music, friends, all kinds of great stuff), Here is my bookmark file. Changed March 28, 1998.

New links as of September 20.
Utah State University, where I am a freshman.
Older links.
My brother Jimmie's page. He calls it "THE 311 and Rollerblading page." He's only 14, and he finally whined enough to convince me to help him start a page. Then he whined and I typed up a short list of HTML codes for him. Anyway, he's doing really well! :-)
This page belongs to John Trotti. He is a great email friend of mine. He just moved back to the U.S. from Australia! He has great taste in books, and I even was able to convert him to Tori! :-)
Russ, fragments, ventrue, another great friend! And he certainly has a unique and incredible Tori page!!!
The Reverse Speech homepage. Reverse Speech is a technology that I find really interesting!! I heard about it on the Art Bell Show. When you record someone's normal forward speech and play it backward, you can often hear their unconscious thoughts!! I didn't believe it either, but what I have heard on Art Bell has almost convinced me! Like the discoverer of the technology said, it's not all that unbelievable. After all, our brain deals with a lot of backwards stuff. There's dyslexia. And of course it has to invert our vision. Anyway, you may think the sounds you hear in reverse are just coincidence, but explain to me why all the reverse speech is actually relevant to what is being spoken forward! Anyway, go to this link and be amazed! :-)
Bingham High School (my alma mater)
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO AND JULIET the movie.
Tori Amos' Really Deep Thoughts Fanzine NEW Home Page (Lots of links and news)
