| CD REVIEWS: |
| JUGULATOR (1997) - The Priest has returned to the rock temple to show that they still are the masters of metal and justly belong at the top of the hierarchy of hard rock. This is definately their heaviest recording so far and hopefully the beginning of many more for these metal gods. It starts out with a techno flavoured title track, Jugulator and then without stop roars into a heavy metal wave of songs, from Blood Stained, Dead Meat, Death Row, Decapitate, Burn In Hell, Brain Dead, Abductors and Bullet Train. The journey finally and regretfully comes to an end after over an hour of metal mayhem but it comes to an end with the best track on this recording, Cathedral Spires. Glenn Tipton whose great solo CD forewarned what could be expected from a future priest recording and K.K. Downing, both surpass their past expertise on the guitar and make their instruments sing like never before. Ian Hill's powerful bass and Scott Travis' heart thumping percussion drive the songs like a dinosaur in a china shop, setting an excellent foundation for Glenn and K.K.'s guitars. Tim 'Ripper' Owens' vocals weave a lyrical quilt around and through Glenn, K.K., Ian and Scott to further enhance the creation of Judas Priest's best recording so far, Jugulator. (-:Omega:-) |

It's just that we feel we've got such a strong album with such strong material and such a great vocalist, but obviously we've been very methodical and particular, trying to make it as good as it can be. It's just a matter of fact and these things take time. All the recording's done and finished. In addition to that, we have done various interviews and record companies have been over and we've had playbacks in the studio. We're doing all these minor interuptions - photo sessions, meetings with people about videos for the album, stage clothes, all that sort of stuff. As I said, it can be kind of frustrating. We just want to get it out there because we know how good it is." |
