Generations: RB1 (1961-1962) Ritchie started his career in Mike Dee And The Jaywalkers.
RB2 (1962-1962) Ritchie left Mike Dee And The Jaywalkers and joined Screaming Lord Sutch And His Savages in May of 1962.
RB3 (1962-1964) Ritchie left Screaming Lord Sutch And His Savages after a few months and joined the Outlaws, a popular principally instrumental group which also did session work.
RB4 (1964-1964) Ritchie left the Outlaws and joined Heinz Berry's Wild Boys after having done session work for him with the Outlaws.
RB5 (1964-1965) Ritchie left the Wild Boys and joined Neil Christian's Crusaders.
RB6 (1965-1966) Ritchie left the Crusaders and rejoined Screaming Lord Sutch And His Savages.
RB7 (1966-1967) Ritchie left once again the Savages and joined Roman Empire.
RB8 (1967-1967) Ritchie left Roman Empire to form Mandrake Root which broke up the same year.
RB9 (1968-1968) Ritchie was asked to join a band to be called Roundabout by Jon Lord (keybordist for Artwoods and also for The Flowerpot Men) who had intern been asked to the band by Chris Curtis (The Searchers ex-drummer). The other memebers were recruited by placing an ad in Melody Maker in Deeves Hall in Hertfordshire. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Dave Curtis (bass), Jon Lord (keyboards), Bobby Woodman (drums), Chris Curtis (vocals).
RB10 (1968-1969) Dave, Bobby and Chris left after one month. Rod Evans (formally of M15 and Maze), Nick Simper (ex-Johnny Kidd & the Pirates) and Ian Paice joined and the band and it was renamed Deep Purple after toying with the name Concrete God for awhile. Lineup (MK1): Ritchie Blackmore (guitars), Nick Simper (bass), Jon Lord (keyboards), Ian Paice (drums) and Rod Evans (vocals).
RB11 (1969-1973) Deep Purple's MK2. Nick and Rod leave the band and Roger and Ian joined (both from the group Episode Six). Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (Keyboards), Ian Paice (drums) and Ian Gillan (vocals).
RB12 (1973-1975) Deep Purple's MK3. Roger and Ian leave the band and Glenn Hughes (from the group Trapeze) and David Coverdale (in the group The Fabuloser Brothers) join. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Glenn Hughes (bass), Jon Lord (Keyboards), Ian Paice (drums) and David Coverdale (vocals).
RB13 (1975-1975) Ritchie left Deep Purple and forms Rainbow with members from Elf: Ronnie James Dio, Mickey Lee Soule, Craig Gruber and Gary Driscoll. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Craig Gruber (bass), Mickey Lee Soule (keyboards), Gary Driscoll (drums) and Ronnie James Dio (vocals).
RB14 (1975-1977) Mickey, Craig and Gery leave Rainbow. Jimmy Bain (from the group Hariot), Tony Carey (from the group Blessings) and the late Cozy Powell (from Jeff Beck's group) join Rainbow. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Jimmy Bain (bass), Tony Carey (keyboards), Cozy Powell (drums) and Ronnie James Dio (vocals).
RB15 (1977-1977) Jimmy leaves Rainbow. Mark Clarke (from the group Uriah Heep) joins Rainbow. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Mark Clarke (bass), Tony Carey (keyboards), Cozy Powell (drums) and Ronnie James Dio (vocals).
RB16 (1977-1978) Tony and Mark leave Rainbow. David Stone and Bob Daisley join Rainbow. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Bob Daisley (bass), David Stone (keyboards), Cozy Powell (drums) and Ronnie James Dio (vocals).
RB17 (1978-1980) Bob, David and Ronnie leave Rainbow. Ronnie joins Black Sabbath. Don Alrey, Graham Bonnet (from the group The Marbles) and Roger Glover join. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Don Alrey (keyboards), Cozy Powell (drums) and Graham Bonnet (vocals).
RB18 (1980-1983) Cozy and Graham leave Rainbow to pursue solo careers. Joe Lynn Turner and Bob Rondinelli join. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Don Alrey (keyboards), Bob Rondinelli (drums) and Joe Lynn Turner (vocals).
RB19 (1983-1984) Don and Bob leave Rainbow. Dave Rosenthal and Chuck Burgi (from the group Brand X) join. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Dave Rosenthal (keyboards), Chuck Burgi (drums) and Joe Lynn Turner (vocals).
RB20 (1984-1990) Deep Purple's MK5. Ritchie and Roger rejoin Deep Purple. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (Keyboards), Ian Paice (drums) and Ian Gillan (vocals).
RB21 (1990-1992) Deep Purple's MK6. Ian Gillan leaves (July 1989) and Joe Lynn Turner joins Deep Purple. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (Keyboards), Ian Paice (drums) and Joe Lynn Turner (vocals).
RB22 (1992-1993) Deep Purple's MK7. Joe Lynn Turner leaves and Ian Gillan rejoins Deep Purple. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (Keyboards), Ian Paice (drums) and Ian Gillan (vocals).
RB23 (1993-1995) Ritchie leaves Deep Purple once more. In 1994 to recreate Rainbow, he recruits Doogle White (from the group Praying Mantis), Paul Morris (from the group Doro Pesch), Greg Smith (from the groups Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult, Joe Lynn Turner), John O'Reilly (from the groups Ritchie Havens, Blue Oyster Cult, Joe Lynn Turner) and Candice Night. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Greg Smith (bass), Paul Morris (Keyboards), John O'Reilly (drums), Doogle White (vocals) and Candice Night (backing vocals).
RB24 (1995-1996) John gets injured playing football and leaves Rainbow. Chuck Burgi rejoins Rainbow. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Greg Smith (bass), Paul Morris (Keyboards), Chuck Burgi (drums), Doogle White (vocals) and Candice Night (backing vocals).
RB25 (1996-1997) In October Ritchie starts recording with Candice and guest stars and the band is called Blackmore's Night. Rainbow remains intact and touring until the summer of 1997. Rainbow Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Greg Smith (bass), Paul Morris (Keyboards), Chuck Burgi (drums), Doogle White (vocals) and Candice Night (backing vocals).
RB26 (1997-1999) Rainbow breaks up and Ritchie continues with Blackmore's Night. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (Electric & acoustic guitars, bass, mandolin, drum, tambourine), Candice Night (Lead and backing vocals), Pat Reagan (Keyboards), Gerald Flashman (Recorders, trumpet, French horns), Tom Brown (Cello), Lady Green (Viola, violins)
RB27 (1999-20??) Ritchie continues with Blackmore's Night and records their second CD. Lineup: Ritchie Blackmore (all guitars, bass, mandolin, renaissance drum, tambourine), Candice Night (vocals, pennywhistle), plus numerous other musicians. On tour they have Adam Forgione (Keyboards and background vocals), Alex Alexander (Drums, percussion), Jim Hurley (Violin, Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin), Mick Cervino (Bass and support act), Marci Geller (Background Vocals and Keyboards, and support act)
