Planning
The first real thought we gave to wanting to go away was about half a year before the trip. Yingyi and I thought it was a neat idea to get away to somewhere with some friends... where? Penang was decided since Yingyi had gone there before (I had been there only once...) and we thought we could 'run around' ourselves and eat lots of food, see lots of things, have lots of fun by ourselves.

So as the story goes, we recruited our friends, whom we had all known from university (more specifically, from our campus Christian fellowship- Chinese Varsity Christian Fellowship): Yaoshan, Yifang, Xinghao and Xiubin.

The first meeting, all of us were pretty excited (not, it was not because of the slightly expensive food at the Marketplace at Centrepoint). Over our plates and bowls, we roughly worked out the cost, accomodation and duration of our trip.

Deciding to take the train, a friend of Yingyi later kindly helped us to buy the train tickets from the KL train station (there were cheaper this way). Of course, that meant having to get to the KL station on our own means. No sweat, we thought.

A second meeting was arranged, whereby we gave out the tickets and solemnly agreed to meet early on Saturday morning at the MRT station (where we would take our bus to get across the Causeway)...
