Gamers Cove.net
The new domain name gamerscove.net is now up and running. Now if your away from your own computer and you want to check out Gamers Cove, you won't have to worry about remembering the long URL. Also, remember to tell all of your friends about GamersCove.net so you can do you part to make this web site really grow!
Site Updates
I added two new sections to the site; the GBA Release list and the GBA FAQ. Actually, the FAQ has been up for quite some time, but I forgot to add it to the side bar. The FAQ needs to be updated but check it out anyway...it's good stuff!
I also updated the GameBoy Color Release list since all of the games listed are not only out now, but also because it was still in the old site’s format ;) Expect to see both release lists updated at least once a week so that you'll always be able to get the latest information about upcoming games.
Actually, when you think about it, isn't that the most important thing about GameBoy? The games. That's why I'm not only updating the release lists often, but I'm currently working on the long talked about Code list. You can also look for a new game reviews section with more in depth reviews and a better interface that will speed up load times and be easier to use.
For lovers of other handheld that aren't always used for gaming, there's good news! Along with a site version that can be used with AvantGo, there will be a new section devoted to PDA users and gamers coming very soon!
As you can see, there's a lot of new stuff coming to Gamers Cove, so come back soon, it won't be long before all of these new features are added.

Site Updates
I've done some more updating in an effort to bring Gamers Cove back up to date. As you might already know, Gamers Cove went through a 10 month period of no updates. Just this month I started it up again. Take a look at the updated Release List and the brand new GBA Release List Enjoy!
Going Mobile
We've already heard about the Mobile Adapter Nintendo plans to use on GBC games when it's released on January 27th. We've also already heard that it's going to be put to use with the GBA. Now there's news that it's going to be used on the much anticipated Mario Kart Advance. Gamers Cove will have further updates about this as soon we find out exactly how it will be used. Check out IGN for complete details. In the mean time, think about this, the mansion in the background of this ghost track picture matches Luigi's mansion in the video Nintendo release at spaceworld ;)
Mario Advance update
A few days ago we ran an article about a Mario game for the GBA. Well, IGN has some more information about it including screen shots!
Basically, it looks to be strongly based on the NES game Super Mario Bros. 2. This is great news for all of us who have been hoping to see the three original Mario Bros. games on GameBoy. Now it looks like we'll be one step closer! And if this news isn't great enough, it will be a launch title when the GBA's released on March 21, 2001.

www.gamerscove.net
I finally registered a domain name for this web site. Within a week you should be able to get here by typing in "gamerscove.net" Now you won't have to try so hard to remember the URL when you're away from you're computer, you can also pass it on to your friends withou them saying...what? So, now that the site has it's own domain name, why not help this web site grow into and even bigger one by helping spread the word around about Gamers Cove.
It's me...Mario!
Thanks goes to GameSpot for this little piece of news that's going to make lots of Mario fans (like me!) very happy: "The company [Nintendo] is already developing a new Mario game in the action-platformer genre tentatively titled Mario Advance for its 32-bit handheld platform. Nintendo has not made any official announcements regarding the game and further details are not available at this time."
Please visit GameSpot for the entire article and their great GameBoy Advance section.

N64 on GBA?
If your anything like most Nintendo gamers, you have a powerful craving for the latest GBA news. Well, the latest issue of Nintendo Power delivered. The big question has finally been answered. Can N64 games be ported to GBA? Included in their member's only section were actual size photos of the handheld and an interview with Steve Okimoto, the developer relations manager at Nintendo of America, and Dan Kitchen, the VP of handheld development for Majesco. If you haven't read been able to read it yet, then check out one interesting excerpt right here.
Handelds, not just for games any more
Yeah, you herd me. And I'm not talking about all of the cool things the new GBA will be able to do aside from just playing games. I'm talking about PDAs. I just bought a Handspring Visor Platinum in November. How does this effect visitors to this site?. Because I now realize the importance of having a version of Gamers Cove that people can read anywhere using AvantGo. Not only that, but I'll now be able to update more often because I can work on new content away from home. In fact, most of today’s news has come from my Visor. This just proves that Nintendo had a good Idea more than 11 years ago when they decided to put power in the palms of people's hands. Keep gaming, reading, and checking back right here for the cool new stuff awaiting fans of ALL handhelds...including a moblie Gamers Cove ready for Avantgo!
Site feedback
How's the latest version of Gamers cove coming along? Why don't you let me know by sending me an e-mail at the new Gamers Cove e-mail address. If you can't think of anything to say about this site, why not help me make it better by giving me some information I'm looking for? Here's some things to you can do
1: I'm always working on trying to make this site load faster. Back in the old days (about two years ago ;) when all I had was a 14.4bps modem it was easy to do. If something loaded fast on that, I knew that everyone was getting a fast load time. But now it's not that simple. Because now, even I> have a cable modem. To me, every page loads at lightning speed, but that's not the case for everyone without a broadband connection. So help me test out the different Gamers Cove web pages and send me an e-mail telling me what page you opened, how long it took to fully load, what pictures were missing (if any), and what speed your modem is.
2: Let me know how easy this site is to navigate and give your suggestions to make it easier to use and better looking.
3: Let me know what you do and don't like about the site and give your suggestions on how to make articles more interesting.
4: Send your own content in! Why not write some of your own game reviews or news items and e-mail them to me? You'll get to see them posted on the site with your name under them!
Thanks again gamers, for all of your support. And don't forget, the new Gamers Cove e-mail address is gamerscove@aol.com or Gamers Cove for AOL members.

Gamers Cove LIVES!!!
The story behind Gamers Cove being down for almost 10 months is a long one. But, it doesn't have anything to do with Game Boy. So let's get right into what you can expect to find here very soon.>
Updated news about GBC and the upcoming GBA accompanied by pictures.
A new site section for handheld computers running either the PalmOS or WindowsCE designed for use with AvantGo. Soon you'll be able to view Gamers Cove news on your PDA with or without wireless web.
Expect to see some changes to the site's look as well and an update of all the site's previous features. All in all, Gamers Cove will once again become your favorite site for the most simple, direct and accurate GameBoy news on your desktop, laptop, or even your palmtop. Come again real soon, it WILL be updated.
GameBoy News Archives
Welcome to the News Achieves section of the site. Since news articles are only kept on the home page for one month, you can come here to read older articles which are kept here for up to a year. But don't worry, if there’s an article that's really interesting and important, you'll probably find a permanent version of that article located in another part of the site.

Minor Site Updates
I did a little updating today. There's actually not a lot of GameBoy news today, so I updated the site news section. Go check it out and see what I've been working on for the past few days. Other than that, you can keep playing GameBoy and come back when there's some more news.
Misc. News
EAGB had some news about the GBA being delayed. They say Nintendo claims to still be on track for their August release date in Japan. IGN had some news about how things look on the USA front. Check out their pocket section for the latest on Nintendo delaying the GBA. The bottom line is, Nintendo still hasn't officially announced that they're going to delay the GBA in the USA. It still looks as though they're going to delay it but it's not official yet. I'm just hoping they make the Japan release date because I'd really like to import it. That's it for now, stay tuned!

Dolphin's Delayed...Will GBA Be Next?
Daily Radar has inside information that Nintendo's next generation console system will be delayed until 2001. It's widely believed the confirmation of a GameBoy Advance delay will follow shortly. It's very likely that this will happen, Nintendo's making far too much money off of the GameBoy Color to stop selling it now. Check out Daily Radar for the full story.
GBA's Replacement is on it's Way
Also thanks to Daily Radar we now know that Nintendo is already working on a successor to the GameBoy Advance. I wasn't really surprised to learn they had a replacement lined up. What got me though, is that they are already working on it. Nintendo must clearly see that the future of gaming lies within hand held systems! Also mentioned in the article was that the GameBoy Advance is complete. There is no more work that needs to be done on it. The only reason for a delay now will be because of "strategic reasons." In other words, if they can make more money off of the GBC, then they will, and we'll just have to wait. That's it for today, and again, thanks to Daily Radar for some great reading!

Some Minor Updates
Well, there isn't much news today, but since I'm off from work anyway, I thought I'd work on making the rest of this site match the main page. So, you can check out some of the other pages to see if they're done yet...if it makes you feel better. I also put a new picture of the GBA up on the one and only GBA Page. So, enjoy the rest of the day, and do your self a favor and go off line, play GameBoy, go outside or something. You mean you have nothing better to do than see if I've updated? Ah, where would I be with loyal supporters. Actually I be right here without any hits. Anyway, I'm starting to make no sense so I think it's time to go. So I'll see you next month or next update, which ever comes first.
A Brand New Look
Wow, what happened here? Well, you know I've been shooting my mouth off for months about making a new, bigger better Gamers Cove. Well, I finally decided to do it. So, I've learned a little more HTML and I'm getting a little better at designing graphics. Now you can see for yourself what I've learned. The way the site looks now is what I've always pictured. Even in December of 1998 when I first put it up and this site consisted of little more than some tacky looking text links and there wasn't picture to be found. So as time moves on, I move on and I'm bringing Gamers Cove along with me. But enough with this mushy stuff, let me tell you about some changes that are still to come
In the future when you want to know what new design I'm cooking up or what pages I'm going to add, check the site news section (Right now, the site news section isn't up, you'll be lead back to the old news page). As you might have guessed, this page right here will be your new starting point for all of the latest GameBoy news. You no longer need to click yet another link to get to the GameBoy news. That's about all I can think of right now, oh wait...there is one more thing, I'm slowly converting the entire site to this new format so it may still be a few days before every page looks the same. So, TTFN and happy gaming!

Where's The GBA?
Maybe you've done some reading lately and seen that there are quite a few web sites talking about the GameBoy Advance being delayed until 2001. Well, I did a little digging to get to the bottom of the story and I found where most of these reports came from. From what I gathered, there are a lot of people speculating that there may not be enough software for release with the GameBoy Advance and Nintendo's Dolphin. Of course, it's very possible that Nintendo and their associated companies are just staying very tight lipped about the software release.
A more likely reason is that NOA and NOE are pressuring NLC to reconsider their release. They don't want to give up the money they could be making off the GameBoy Color if the GBA isn't released until next year. But a software company in Japan said they will be ready software wise for the August release date but they acknowledge that there may be a possible delay. So the bottom line is basically that nothing is really definite. Something to think about as far as the release dates staying where they are, is that Nintendo wants to release the Dolphin at the same time as the GBA. While NOA and NOE may be raking in the dough on the hand held front, the N64 is kind of dying. With dreamcast on the scene and Play Station 2 on the way, things are likely to get any better for Nintendo. A new console with Internet capabilities along with a 32 bit hand held might be just what Nintendo needs to get back on top from all fronts. At any rate, sooner or later, we'll be having a lot of fun the two new systems. Stay tuned for further updates as news arrives.

Is this site dead or something?
No my dear friends, it's actually still very much alive. I don't plan on ditching it, I do plan to get some more updating in though. I've actually been quite busy doing other things besides playing GameBoy lately. Sadly my daily chores and my job have been eating up my spare time. But I've cut back my hours and I'm trying to make some more free time so I should be playing more GameBoy and working on this site s little more. Also, expect to see some new reviews from my video game addicted brother since his game pack collection has lately greatly out numbered mine. I'll work on catching up to him after I get my hands on the empire's ultimate weapon, the GameBoy Advance (dramatic reverb).
Hey, can I have an "Advance?"
If you're up on the many different GameBoy sites there are on the net, then you've most likely read most of the latest news. BTW, if you'd like to see some of the many GameBoy sites there are, check out the links section. Anyway, getting back to my point, I've picked up a few tidbits off the net. EAGB posted this a few days back:
"According to Ken Lobb, Nintendo's Manager of Product Acquisition and Development, GameBoy Advance will excel in running '2.5D-style games' - classic 2D side-scrolling platform games with 3D characteristics, much like Clockwork Knight on the Sega Saturn."
That sounds fairly impressive. Although I know some gamers that would practically kill for true polygonal graphics on a handheld system, I think I'll be quite happy with Sega Saturn like graphics on a GameBoy like system. Also, check out Nintendojo for an interesting article with some more stuff on GameBoy Advance.
