Description: Tenchi is a young man who happens to be the main attention of 6 alien women. He usually acts very nervous or shy when he is with them. He is also crown prince of Jurai by noble blood.

Powers:
TV version: She can go through walls, teleport, fly, duplicate herself, breathe in space or underwater, create energy swords or beams, and has super human strength.
OAV version: She can do all this and regenerate her body parts, use her hair needles if her body is disabled, change the shape of objects into her form, and call evil spirits or demons. Her main powers comes from her three gems, and it's said that when Ryoko matures, she is able to create the light hawk wings.
Description: Ryoko is space pirate (or demon girl) who has a major crush on Tenchi and really despises Ayeka. She usually tries to get Tenchi's attention, or at least tries to be alone with him whenever she can. Her main competetor for Tenchi's affections is Ayeka.

TV version: She can create force fields, energy balls, and can command her wooden guardians to protect her or to attack.
OAV version: She can do all this and fly. (Occurs once in episode 6)
Description: OAV version: Ayeka is the first jurai princess who tries to get Tenchi's affection. She despises Ryoko very much and uses the "related by noble blood" reason to be with Tenchi. Her former fiance was Yosho her brother, who happens to be Tenchi's grandfather.
TV version: All of the in the OAV version is the same except that Yosho isn't the fiance of Ayeka.
 Sasami: (English Voice Talent) Sherry Lynn (Japanese Voice Talent) Chisa Yokoyama

Powers: Sasami can cook really good food.
Description:
TV version: Sasami is the 2nd princess of Jurai, and is the younger sister of Ayeka. She sort of has a crush on Tenchi, but doesn't seem to show it that much.
OAV version: It's the same thing, but she's also Tsunami (a form of her older self) who is a Jurai tree that assimlated with Sasami when she had a accident as a young child.
 Mihoshi: (English Voice Talent) Ellen Gerstill (Japanese Voice Talent) Yuko Mizutani

Powers: Being clumsy, very lucky, and has a really big gun.
Description: Mihoshi is a galaxy police first class detective who is very clumsey most of the time. She says she is one of the best, but doesn't show it that much. Mihoshi has a crush on Tenchi, but doesn't show it a lot. Her partner is Kiyone. This is kinda of the same in both versions, except in OAV version where Kiyone only shows up in the Mihoshi special and not in the rest of the series.
 Kiyone: (English Voice Talent) Sherry Lynn (Japanese Voice Talent) Yuri Amano
Age: 23
Powers: Having a big gun and being able to put up with Mihoshi.
Description: Kiyone is a galaxy police first class detective who seems to be the exact opposite of Mihoshi. She is very serious and says that her life has flushed down the toilet ever since she became Mihoshi's partner. She doesn't seem to have much of a crush with Tenchi. She only appears once in the OAV version, but she's one of the main characters in the TV version.

TV version:
Age: looks like 10, but somewhere over 700
Powers: Being really smart and creates really cool gadgets that seem to make her powers.
Description: Washu is the most greatest scientific genius in the universe who was kicked out of the space academy, and has a crush on Tenchi.
OAV version:
Physical Age: 12 for OAV version. Real Age: over 20,000.
Powers: Same as the TV version and can change to her adult form or her younger form.
Description: Same thing but there's more to her. She's interested on how Tenchi can create the light hawk wings. Washu is the creator (and mom) of Ryoko and Ryo-oki, and prefers to be called Little Washu.
 Yosho or Katsuhito: (English Voice Talent) Jay Hopper (Japanese Voice Talent) Takeshi Aono
TV version:
Age: over 60
Powers: Can use the light hawk sword, superstrong, and can summon his jurai powers.
Description: Yosho is part human and part Juraian and is the grandfather of Tenchi. After defeating Kagato, he decided to leave Jurai and live on Earth forever.
OAV version:
Physical Age: over 60 for OAV version. Real Age: over 700.
Powers: He can do the same thing in TV version and is able to live a long time. He also can cloak his true form. (In the episode 13)
Description: Same thing in TV version, but he was on a pursuit to capture the demon Ryoko and planned to never return to planet Jurai. He was supposed to marry Ayeka after capturing Ryoko. Now trains Tenchi and hopes he can take his place.
 Nobuyuki: (English Voice Talent) Jay Hopper (Japanese Voice Talent) Takeshi Aono

Description: Nobuyuki is Tenchi's father who married Achika (Yosho's daughter and Tenchi's mother). Sort of a pervert and uses the excuse "closeness in a family is a good thing" to be with the girls in TV version.
  Ryo-oki: (English Voice Talent) Debi Derryberry (Japanese Voice Talent) Etsuko Kozakura
Age: 3 months old after reproducing itself.
Powers:
TV version: Can go through walls, transform into a space ship, and can lift things with her psychic powers.
OAV version: Can do the same thing and can change into a human being.
Description:
OAV version: Ryo-oki is the sister or pet of Ryoko and a best friend of Sasami. She is able to turn into a human after assimilating with the masu that was about to attack Tenchi. Ryo-oki was known as a deadly space ship that destroyed planets. Likes to help Tenchi a lot.
TV version: Basically the same except she's more of a pet to Ryoko then a sister.
