I've been writing poetry for about as long as I can remember. When I was young I'd sit in my room for hours at a time writing poem after poem. I write about many different things but always something or someone that deeply touches me. For example, my poem "Noirin Ni Riain" was written during her concert! As I heard her voice I was so moved that I knew I had to write it while the feelings and thoughts were going on. My sitting in the front row didn't hold me back either. I wrote it on the back of the program and, rewriting it on a clean sheet of paper after the show, I gave it to her backstage. This was the first of only two poems I have actually given to the person that I wrote about. The second was to Helmut Lotti, another voice that moves me to such a degree that it's impossible to express in any way but through poetry.
I have found, over the years, that when ever I am at a loss for normal words I can always find them through my poetry.
You'll notice that my styles vary. I write what I feel at the moment ... moment to moment my feelings change and my style reflects those changes.
I hope you will enjoy my verse ... it will let you into a part of me that nothing else can. It's the purest form of "me" that I can share with anyone. They say "a picture is worth a thousand words." I disagree. Poetry paints a thousand pictures ... and then some!
