RUBEUS HAGRID
Rubeus Hagrid is a close friend and confidant of Albus Dumbledore. Therefore, Dumbledore entrusted Hagrid with the job of delivering a baby Harry Potter to 4 Privet Drive the night that Lily and James Potter were murdered by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Dumbledore also entrusted Hagrid with the job of getting Harry from the Dursley’s custody and taking him to Diagon Alley to purchase his school things before Harry’s first year at Hogwarts. Harry and Hagrid were instant friends, and have been ever since. Hagrid’s mother was the giantess Fridwulfa. His father, however, was a human wizard. Because of his mother’s heritage, Hagrid is a massive person. His size and mangy hair and beard give him a wild, untamed outward appearance. However, he is a very kind and gentle soul. Hagrid only gets vicious with someone when they insult Albus Dumbledore.
In his second year at Hogwarts, Hagrid was framed by Tom Riddle for opening the Chamber of Secrets. He was expelled by the Headmaster at the time, Armando Dippet, but Dumbledore, then the Transfiguration teacher, convinced Dippet to allow Hagrid to stay at Hogwarts as the Keeper of Keys and Grounds, which has been his occupation ever since. In addition to this post, Hagrid was picked by Dumbledore to be the Care of Magical Creatures teacher after the old professor, Kettleburn, retired.
Hagirid may be a kind person, but the monstrous creatures that he has a fixation for most certainly are not. In Harry’s first year, Hagrid obtained an illegal dragon egg and hatched it. In Harry’s second year, he discovered a colony of Acromantulas in the Forbidden Forest that Hagrid had brought there. In Harry’s fourth year, Hagrid illegally bred Fire Crabs and Manticores to get the disgusting Blast-Ended Skrewts, and in Harry’s fifth year, Hagrid brought his Giant half-brother, Grawp, to Hogwarts to live in the Forbidden Forest.
A kind soul, but a fierce fighter, Hagrid’s friendship with Dumbledore has put him in the middle of the second war that has just begun. He believes in Dumbledore, and is willing to do anything to help him out with the Order of the Phoenix. Hagrid went with Beauxbatons Headmistress and fellow half-giant Madame Maxime and tried to persuade the giants to join their side before Voldemort got to them. They were unsuccessful.
Hagrid’s friendship with both Harry and Dumbledore has put him in the middle of the second war before, and that is most definetley not over. He is always ready and able to help out the Order of the Phoenix.
