FAQs: TMC Style
Alright. All of these questions were actually made up by Tessa and Charity, unless otherwise noted. Fact is, we just don't get a lot of questions. We would LIKE some, though.... why don't you try emailing us? Anywho, here we go!
If you have questions about almost anything about FANFICTION or FANDOM, head on over to Tessa's Relationship Orientation Page to check that out. Almost any questions you have about that is answered on that page. But other than that... here you go!
Q: WHO IS "JKR"?
A: JKR is the intials of Joanne Kathleen Rowling's Maiden name (and the name she uses when she writes her books). If you want to learn more about her, head on over to her Official Site. Lots of fun tidbits over there.
Q: WHY DO I SEE SO MANY ERROR PAGES AROUND BEYOND THE BOOKS? (an actual submitted question.)
A: Beyond the Books is a site that's forever changing. Sometimes, pages or the whole SITE may be shut down temporarily for a face lift. Just be patient, because chances are tons of new stuff is going to be uploaded!
Q: ARE YOU PLANNING TO EXPAND/BECOME A DOT COM OR DOT NET?
A: Yes, actually, we ARE planning on expanding! Someday, when Tessa and Charity get actual jobs and can afford web hosting that is. We are always looking for help though, and you can email us if you're willing to give us a hand. Also email us if you know of someone willing to host us, or will host us yourself! Contact us for information on what we can afford and what kind of space and bandwidth we need.
Q: HEY, WHAT ABOUT LORD OF THE RINGS?
A: Sorry! This is just a website dedicated to Harry Potter. If you want to talk about LotR, though, you can head over to our Forums and discuss LotR in that section of the boards, if you want.
Q: HOW DO I JOIN THE FORUM?
A: Go to the forum home page. Near the top of the page should be some red font saying "Beyond the Books." To the right of that, there should be something that says "Welcome, Guest. Please Login or Register." Choose register, and follow the directions, and get posting!
Q: HOW DO I GET AN EMAIL ACCOUNT WITH YOU?
A: Head over to our Mail Service and scroll down the page a little. There will be an area there for you to fill out your name, and you can get started in registering an email address with us! Make sure you let us know when you get an address, we will probably write emails back. But just like any other email service, you must check your account or your emails there will be automatically deleted.
Q: CAN I SEND IN MY OWN WRITING/FANFICTION?
A: Yes. Beyond the Books is planning on starting up a Fanfiction section here pretty soon, and so we would love to have Harry Potter stories on our server. However, there are restrictions. Fanfiction will not be accepted purely because it is sent in. Grammar and spelling need to be decent, so at least run it through a spell checker. Nothing NC-17 will be accepted. Do not just send in links to other people's stuff, either. More specific rules will be posted when our fanfiction section is set up.
Q: WHAT IS THIS WHOLE STAR-SOMETHING HERE-STAR?
A: Good question. If you're not on the net a lot, then you might not know about how you show someone you're doing an action. This is *action*. Sometimes it's innocent like *writes HTML codes* or it could be something like *stalks Sean Biggerstaff*. Got it? Sometimes people use -action- or
Q: WHAT!ISTHIS?
A: Ahahahaha! When you have an exclamation mark in between an adjective and a noun, it's a fandom way of describing something. Orange!Juice, Fandom!Draco, Crazy!Charity and Spazzy!Tessa. You can do just about anything! Enjoy your newfound!waytotalk. Just don't let your 12YearOld!Siblings in on the secret. *wink*
