Reserve Patrol Officer, a part-time police position.
Reserve Support Officer, also a part-time position.
The Patrol Officer is a full-time police position in the Town of Dixfield. Candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Maine driver's license (or equivalent), be a High School graduate or possess a GED and have successfully completed the 100-hour Reserve Police Training Program of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (or already be a certified full-time police officer in the State of Maine). Applicants already full-time certified in the State of Maine are preferred. If no full-time certified candidates/applicants are available, current Reserve Patrol Officers are preferred.

Patrol Officers conduct regular patrol activities in the Town of Dixfield. These duties include responding to emergency and other calls for police service, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, security checks of public, commercial and private residential addresses as requested and assigned. All public safety issues are directly addressed by on-duty Patrol Officers.

Patrol Officers are expected to cooperate with and assist the other agencies in the Town of Dixfield to include Public Works and the local school district. Since the Dixfield Police Department believes in and seeks to practice the Community Policing model, Patrol Officers are expected to interact effectively with members of the community on a regular basis. Each Patrol Officer is expected to be as proactive as possible, seeking to be a problem-solver in the community. Whenever appropriate, a Patrol Officer in Dixfield seeks the assistance and cooperation of any and all available resources within the community with the goal of solving any existing problem.

Patrol Officers answer to the Patrol Sergeant. They also have responsibility to oversee the activity of any part-time (reserve) police personnel assigned to them.
