These are the voyages of the Star Ship Voyager who has been wrenched from the Alpha Quadrant and brought to the Delta Quadrant, 70,000 light years away. They are attempting to return home (a journey of 70 years at warp speed but have to journey through a space in which they are very much alone, attempting to find supplies to help them in their trip. Meanwhile, Janeway, Torres and Tuvok infiltrate the Borg sphere, armed with a virus designed to help free the drones. Although their efforts seen successful, the Borg Queen turns the tables by assimilating Tuvok and capturing Janeway.

The action alternates between the future and the crew's final attempt to reach Earth coming full circle as an aging Admiral Janeway emp\barks on a desperate mission to alter the outcome of a past confrontation with the collective - with fateful consequences.
