View of Old Camp

As we hiked along the North Ponil Creek we met up with a couple of sad staffers that were out doing trail maintenance and needed help with their truck.  Their truck stalled and would not start so part of our crew lent a hand and pushed started the truck and the staff members were on their way after thanking us for our GOOD TURN.  Our burro wranglers continued to take our burros to the burro trap and unloaded our crew gear and feed the burros.  The rest of the crew after doing our good turn continued to camp and erected our dining fly over our pack line and started to set up camp before the rains came. This all done in good fashion we were able to get our camp set up and had time to spare.  The storm passed by and only dizzied did not get much wet.  We were able to still climb and get a good view of our camp from the hill across the North Ponil Creek.

At about 4:30 pm we started to prepare dinner of, Beef Taco Comida" and chocolate pie for dessert.  After dinner Craig got his Frisbee out and we played Frisbee Football.  After the sun went down we had a crew campfire and Criag told all about his scouting days at Philmont and his cross country racing in high school in his home in  Spanish Forks, UT.

Day 4, August 8 -- We woke up at 6:15 am, said our good byes to Craig, our ranger.  For breakfast we had a hot meal of powered scrambled eggs, frosted flakes, hashbrowns, pop tarts, and hot chocolate.

Today we had a level 5 miles to our next camp at Indian Writings (known today as (SCRIBBLINGS) just ahead of another rain storm this time we were not spared for we GOT WET today.  We had to wait about 1 hour before we could take the tour of the area to see Native American petroglyphs which were very cool and also got to see an archeological dig site too.

At 6:00 pm we had a dinner of turkey & noodles, potato soup, and blueberry cobbler for dessert.

It rained again in the evening and when we woke up we could see that the creek near our camp had rose over six inches.
