What is 'Anorexia'?
Anorexia Nervosa - physical and mental.
Anorexia has generally been seen as a 'woman's disease' but in recent years it is becoming more apparent in young men. There isn't one particular group which is seen as more or less definite sufferers, but top sports people are more susceptible.
The main signs of Anorexia are:
- Low self-esteem
- Considerable weight loss
- Always feeling cold
- Obsession with food and calories
- Excuses for not eating meals
- Complaining of being too fat when already too thin
- Cooking for others but not for themselves
- Depression or mood swings
- Irregular or loss of menstruation
- Fainting spells or dizziness
- Pale complexion
- Headaches
- Perfectionist attitude
But remember, not all sufferers will have all symptoms, depending on the severity of it!
