This product could/will be replaced by the Charger/Discharger, which is currently being tested (Dec/Jan 2001).
Instructions for Use:
1. Plug the Battery into the Discharger.
2. Select the desired Discharge Rate: 600, 800
or 1Amp.
3. Press the Start Button.
4. The Discharge light should be on. The Battery
will discharge to 4.4 Volts and will then either switch off or automatically
switch to your Charger.
Notes:
# If the Discharger will not start, the discharge
load may be to high for the battery. Select Reset and then press Start.
The Discharge light will come on, then move the switch to the desired Discharge
Rate. If the Discharger still does not start then the battery voltage may
be to low, charge the battery to above 5 Volts and try the
Discharger Again.
# The Charge Socket will accept 3.5mm Mono Audio Plugs. These plugs are available from Dick Smith Electronics. Part Number: P 1134. Ensure correct polarity when wiring the plug. The large post is the -ve terminal, the inside post is the +ve terminal.
# Ensure the Load Resistors have adequate airflow around them. They will get hot when the discharge rate is 1Amp.
# Discharging 5 Cell packs at 1 Amp WILL FRY the load resistors, a small 40mm fan is presently being tested to cool the little whooers!
