We are all sinners. If you don't believe that, just think for a minute. How often do you do think of yourself at the expense of others? How good are you, really? You can never measure up to a completely holy God who is without fault. If you think you can get to Heaven based on your good deeds outweighing your bad deeds, just try to guess how many good deeds it will take. Are you going to bet your eternal life on that guess?
Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God wants us first to admit we are sinners. We must confess to him how wrong we are and that we can't be totally good on our own.
John 10:10 - Jesus said "I have come that you may have life and may have it to the full." The good news is that God loves you and wants to save you from your sin, to give you new life and hope.
Romans 5:8 - "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." To give you this gift of life, God provided a way through his Son, Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8 - "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." Grace means that God freely gives this gift to you. You don't have to fulfill a bunch of legal obligations. You receive this gift by faith alone.
Romans 10:9 - "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Faith is a decision of your heart demonstrated by the action of claiming Jesus is Lord and then by following his lead in your life.
If you want to take this action right now, say a prayer like this: "Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died to forgive me of my sins. I now accept your gift of eternal life. Thank you for forgiving me of all my sin and thank you for my new life. From this day forward, I will choose to follow you."
If you prayed this prayer, please share your decision with a Christian friend or pastor as soon as possible. Please also e-mail Generation Yes at webmaster@generation-yes.net for any information. |
