May - 18

Jessica and Scott S. are fairly new to our class and they recently had a baby, named Ruby. Ruby is now 5 weeks old and was sick with fever and is now in the hospital. They have run all sorts of test and so far all they know is that her white blood count is very high, but they don't know what is wrong. Please pray for strength for all and healing for baby Ruby! Jessica's mom is at home taking care of the twin 4 yr old girls, while also unpacking their boxes after just moving back into their home after the whole black mold issue. They have a lot on their plate right now! Christy M.

Would you mind praying for my aunt who is not doing well right now. We are very close to her (my moms sister) and she has been having multiple strokes the last few days. The doctors are saying that there is no hope for her. We are just praying for a miracle. This has been very hard on my family and we are really concerned this could impact my grandfather too since they are very close. Anyway, Chris and I would really appreciate your prayers right now. Please pray for my cousin Tania who is applying to nursing school. She takes her entrance exam soon and is nervous about it. She has not finished school and has been floating between jobs and this would be a great step for her to give her something permanent and stable. Her mom (my aunt) died late last year, so this has been a hard year for her, and I think this would make a big difference in her life. Please pray for her and for her brother Matt. Please pray the Lord keeps us all safe sound, that Helena & Julie are ESPECIALLY kept safe in my absence, that my air travle is safe and that I get a lot out of the seminar.

Please pray that I can get my own beauty salon, because the shops that I have been working for are not becoming of a Christian woman to work in. And, just pray that I can do this soon because it is so hard to be around wrong doers. It seems like no matter which shop I go to or work for it's all the same thing. Thank you. - Sam L.

Thanks for your prayers for my friend from high school (see request on 12-15-02). She passed away about a week ago, but she actually lived through and enjoyed the holidays with her family. I found out on Friday that I have a "3 month" engagement in Denver, CO. The last 3 month project I had turned into 1.5 years. Hmmm-not good. Jan - 19

Please pray for Terrill and Leah S. (A friend of a friend). They just found out their 3 year old son has tumors in his lungs/esophagus (all cancer). Doctors have given him days to live. They also have another son (4 months old) that has a heart defect and was scheduled for surgery this month. This surgery is critical and he only has a 50% success rate. They are a strong christian family but are facing losing 2 of their 3 children very soon. Since they live in Waco and are going to hospitals in Dallas, money is an issue (hotel stays for months at a time). Please pray for an opening at the Ronald McDonald house. -Karen F.

Please pray for a very good friend of ours, De-Anna. She just found out that her mother has stage 3 cervical cancer. De-Anna lost her father 4 years ago to cancer and has struggled with depression for many years. Dec - 8

Praise God that my mom was not injured when she passed out as she was driving on I-10. It really is a miracle that she did not hit anything or anyone and that her car came to a stop before she came to. Please pray that the doctors will know what made her pass out and can help her so that something like that doesn't happen again. Also, on Monday I am going to tell my department chair that I don't plan on teaching next year. Please pray that she and my fellow teachers will take my decision well so that the rest of the school year isn't too awkward, and that I will be diligent to seek a job for next fall. -Eliabeth C.

As I look for a new job, please pray that the characteristics that Dr. Young mentioned will be evident in my life so that others will see Christ in me in the workplace where God wants me to be. -Elizabeth C.

Please pray for my dear friend, Leslie, whose husband very unexpectedly announced that "he just isn't happy any more." Please pray that the Lord will work through their marital struggles and that her husband may come to know Christ through this ordeal. Please pray that Leslie will remain strong and that she will turn to Christ for his comfort and peace. They have a 10 month old daughter, and Leslie is devistated at the mere thought of her daughter not being raised in a loving 2-parent home. Jenni J

My aunt feels that she has received confirmation from God that she has been given a new liver from his storehouse.  She should have already had liver failure from the cancer and her liver is fully functioning, we are praising God for that.  She still has the tumors on her liver and lungs though, so please continue to pray for God’s healing that she believes He has promised to her.  The tumors, just to give you an idea make her look six months pregnant where as she did not even fill out a size four before. – Michelle

Please pray for my stepmom, Patsy.  She broke her leg in three places Saturday morning.  She had polio as a child and has broken that leg several times because it is fragile.  She had surgery that night to put pins and an external rod on her leg.  She will have that on for at least six weeks.  The surgery was successful and now she will have to use a walker or possibly a wheelchair.  Please pray for a healthy recovery and that she would have less pain.  - Lainie

Please pray for my friend’s brother, Hartwell.  This week he was in a car accident.  Seems that he lost control of the car and hit a tree.  He was wearing his seatbelt, but there was major trauma to the head.  They have removed blood clots from the brain and are trying to reduce the swelling in order to measure the brain activity.  He is in a coma and is on life support.  Ann and her family are all there or on their way to be by his side.  They keep running cat-scans on him and the percentages that the doctors are giving them are not too good, but Hartwell is a fighter.  Please keep him in your prayers and we will keep everyone updated.  - Carrie

Please pray for a new baby named Benjamin who is having some serious problems.  His parents are Jason and Jenny - Jason is an old college friend of mine.  Benjamin was born three weeks early on May 2^nd after a difficult pregnancy.  He was pronounced healthy at birth but 28 hours later he suddenly stopped breathing while nursing.  He was rushed to the nursery where they worked on him until his heart and lungs began working again.  He is still having a difficult time and the doctors are not sure what the problem is, though they have several theories.  Please pray that God would heal him and that the doctors would have the wisdom to know what to do.  There is a website with updates on his condition: http://www.oocities.org/benjaminashaffer/  - Lainie

Two of my best friends from college, Jennifer and Derek, are in need of some serious prayers for their eleven-month-old daughter Hailey. A few weeks ago, Hailey came down with a stomach virus while in Baton Rouge. Because they were too far away from their pediatrician in Lafayette, they went to the emergency room. While treating Hailey's upset tummy, they ran some tests on her blood. These tests came back with some alarming results.  There are several possibilities as to what might be wrong with her, but it is now sounding like the worst of them is the most likely. If you have a second, it would mean so much if you could please pray for Hailey, Jennifer and Derek.  - Suzann M.

Please pray for my step-dad, Bob.  My mom found him unconscious on the floor the other night when she got home.  He did not respond to her, his breathing was labored, and he moved about as if struggling.  He was rushed to the hospital and put in the ICU.  He regained consciousness and was sent home today.  However, the doctors still don't know what happened or whether it will happen again.  Bob is 72 and retired, but pretty active.  Now, though, he can't drive in case it happens again and Mom will have to have friends checking up on him while she is at work.  Please pray for his health, for the doctors to have wisdom, and for his and Mom's emotional state - this was very scary for them.  They are both committed Christians, so praise the Lord that He will comfort them.  Thanks,  - Lainie

I want to pass along a prayer request to add to the list.  Blair's grandfather passed away on Tuesday of this week.  I know he was very close to him.  Also, his grandmother is having a very difficult time, as they were married for 60 years.  - Lindsay

Please pray for Doug's family, especially his mother and grandfather.  His grandmother passed away January 18.  Grandma and Grandpa would have been married 60 years this summer!  This was his mom's mom.  She was a very strong Christian and her last wish was to know that she would see all of her grandchildren in Heaven.  Please pray for Doug's brothers and two cousins to accept Christ as their Savior.  They all "know" about Christ and have attended church a few times, but nothing serious.  Also, pray for Doug and I to be role models and witnesses in their lives.  Thanks.  - Doug & Angie

Please pray for my mom, Marie.  She recently discovered she is showing the early stages of ocular malfusion, a disease in which the fluid in the eyeball gradually hardens and leads to blindness.  She is currently on a diet to slow the progression down, but this is testing her faith.  She is a devout believer and really needs prayer.  - Hank

Please continue to pray for Eric's dad to grow in his new relationship with Christ.  God is already working.  He shared with us yesterday that he has been reading and studying and is willing to go to a Bible Study.  Praise God!  - Suzanne & Eric

I brought up my aunt a few weeks ago, who was having tests for spots in her lungs and liver.  The tests came back positive meaning they believe she has cancer again (she recently recovered from colon cancer but now it has spread).  She is not taking any treatment, as there is likelihood it would not heal her.  She also believes God healed her at a healing service at her church.  She will have blood tests next month, which will show if she is actually healed or not.  Please pray believing her body is truly cancer free.  - Michelle and Mike
