40 "The Show Where Sam Shows Up"

Skyline: Lights go on in the skyscrapers.Plot: Frasier's friend from Cheers, Sam Malone, is in Seattle saying he's applying for a job with the Mariners. He comes to dinner with Frasier, where Frasier learns about the other regulars such as Norm and Cliff (click here to see them) and Sam meets Martin (who Frasier had told him was dead) and Niles (who Sam didn't know existed). Sam starts flirting with Daphne, and Frasier tells Niles that Sam is a compulsive womaniser. Just then the phone rings. It's a woman named Sheila - who Sam was supposed to marry yesterday. Now alone, Sam tells Frasier that he didn't marry her as he was unsure about making a commitment. After Frasier gives him advice, Sam realises he's made a mistake. Next day, Frasier, Niles and Roz are waiting for Sam and Sheila, who has flown in from Boston on a stopover to Hawaii, to appear. When they do, Sheila looks at Frasier and then says she's tired - can they go to the hotel? After they leave, Frasier tells Niles and Roz that he slept with Sheila on a visit to Boston 3 months ago. Frasier goes to the hotel room and Sheila apologises. They agree not to tell Sam, but Sam comes in and confesses that he's slept with someone else. Sheila is impressed with his honesty and confesses she's slept with a certain member of the Cheers regulars - or maybe more. Subtitles: Martin Rises From The Dead; A Dirty Little Secret. It's Maris!!!: Maris was pleased that Niles wasn't sweating at their wedding because of nerves, it was because of a heart murmur. Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Appearance of bar owner Sam Malone, and mentions of most of the Cheers regulars here, as it is also revealed that as well as Frasier, Sheila slept with Paul and Cliff!!! Oh, and the sexual compulsion group where Sam and Sheila met is the same one Sam attended in the penultimate episode of Cheers. Trivia: When Frasier began, Kelsey Grammer reminded the producers that in Cheers Frasier had said both his parents were dead. The explanation given to Sam here as to why Frasier had said that was because he had just had a massive argument with Martin on the phone. Oh, and could Niles' heart murmur at his wedding somehow be connected to his heart problems in Season 10? |
