Skyline: The Space Needle is decorated with Christmas lights.

Plot: Frasier is excited - it's Christmas and Frederick is coming to visit. He does however read out his Christmas message to his listeners despite Bulldog's and Gil's attempts to distract him by wrapping him in decorations and by bringing in a stripper.

Frasier has ordered his son some educational toys for Christmas, but the mail order company has sent them to a Franklin Crane in Maine. Frasier and Niles head down to the mall to try and find some educational toys, despite Martin saying that Frederick might prefer an Outlaw Laser Robo-Geek.

At the mall, Frasier and Niles meet a man shopping at a store that only sells educational toys - but it has shut. Frasier offers to buy the toys for $1000, and the man agrees. Frasier only has $300, and asks Niles to write a cheque for the rest - knowing all too well he can't because Maris has frozen Niles' money!!!

Back home, at the over-the-top over decorated apartment (decorated by Martin of course), Frederick arrives. When he goes to bed, he tells Frasier he's excited because he asked Santa for an Outlaw Laser Robo-Geek. Frasier is worried, and Martin tells his son that he always buys the gifts he thinks people should have rather than what they want. But it looks like Martin has saved the day, when he gives Frasier a certain toy to give to Frederick…..

Subtitles: If I Only Had A Brain; A Mall And The Night Visitors.

It's Maris!!!: Niles tells Frederick that Maris is in a coma. He felt the truth - that they'd separated - would be too upsetting.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Mention of Lilith and first appearance of Frederick. Frederick isn't allowed sweets by his mother. This is the only time he is played by Luke Tarsitano (Trevor Einhorn takes over in the later seasons).

Trivia: This is the first episode with the Christmas skyline. Mentions of Joe, who Daphne is spending the holidays with, and Hester Crane. Another appearance of the Martin-decorated apartment. Second Christmas episode, and the first to feature Frederick - he also makes a festive appearance in Ep 245 "High Holidays". Michael G Hawkins (Santa) makes his first of 4 appearances here, each as a different character. He also plays the conductor in Ep 61 "Moon Dance", the emcee in Ep 177 "Sliding Frasiers", and the bandleader in Ep 244 "SeaBea Jeebies".
