THE RECEPTION

After the official portrait photos were taken, the official photographers left Balbirnie, while the whole party sat down for an amazing 4 course meal.
Disposable cameras had been left on each table and the guests were asked to take photos of their table and then use the camera throughout the night.  We got some fantastic casual photos of the night; here is a collection of shots! Unfortunately they don't feature all the guests as some bright sparks decided to pinch 2 cameras! So sorry that you are all not featured here; I found it hard to believe that friends and family thought it okay to pinch our cameras!!!!

After the wonderful meal, (which everyone raved about), we had the speeches!  Unfortunately, no one took photos during this!  Let's just say the speeches were great!  First up was the Father of the Bride; Dad's speech was short and sweet but very nice.  Then the nervous groom got up, made a fantastic speech, full of sloppy stuff to his new bride, thanking our families and friends for all their help and gifts, finishing with thanking Emma and Christine for being such great bridesmaids on the day.  Then Paul the Best Man stood up and gave Graham a right ribbing!  I know the Best Man has to take the mickey of the Groom but I think Graham was getting a little offended towards the end of the speech!  That usually is all the speeches that are said, but this girl wasn't going to go without saying a few words!  So the Bride stood up!  I actually just wanted to give a few gifts out but I also thanked Maureen for doing such a wonderful job on all the floristry on the day.  I gave Christine a book called "Always the Bridesmaid - 89 Ways to Recycle the Bridesmaid's Dress"!!  I gave my dad a pen "for all the pens that have run dry!" as my parents paid for the wedding!  I gave my mum a framed pair of scissors, as she has always had the joke of wanting to be the first to cut Graham's hair off! Finally for the prettiest girl in the room, I gave Emma a rag doll which had been designed specially to look like her! The RAG DOLL COMPANY did a superb job in designing a doll with brown hair and a gold dress, just like Emma's.  As you see from the photo below, she loved it!

Speeches over, the party moved through to the Gamekeepers Inn while the Ballingal Suite was set up for the Evening Reception.  The Evening Guests started to arrive and soon the party swelled to over 120 people!  A good time was sure to be had by all.  The Band we hired for the evening was "AFTER DARK", a local 4 piece band.  The Suite ready, the Bride and Groom were first on the dance floor for their First Dance.  We chose Foreigner's "I Wanna Know What Love Is" as we both love this song!

Lots of dancing went on then, and everybody had a ball.  Before the buffet, we had our friends GEMMA AND JONDI MAC appear on stage and sing one of our favourite songs, "Right Here Waiting", so we got two First Dances!  Then the Buffet was laid out.  Graham and I were so busy, we never got the chance to eat anything but everyone else said it was wonderful!  Wedding cake was also available and I got a wee bit after Chrissie shoved a piece in my mouth!!!  Then the boys got up to play!!  Graham was a member of the rock band "AGE OF REASON" (formely known as Cry Havoc).  I always wanted them to play at the wedding, so I was glad they did.  They got up and played 4 numbers and went down a STORM!!!  They even were so loud, they bounced glasses off the bar upstairs!!  I don't think they were then popular with the management!!!!!!!!  They even played my favourite "Rescue Me" but the singer got the words wrong (as usual!) so I went up and stole the mike off him and finished the song off for him!!!

All too soon, the party ended (not without a rendition of Auld Lang Syne of course!) and everyone retired to their rooms or took the bus to the local hotels! It was a fantastic day and I wish I could do it all over again!!!!! Many thanks to ALL who attended, helped and supported us in our wedding day!
