The Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery is going online. This church is located in extreme north Fayette county, very close to the Fulton (Old Campbell) county border. There was a small town here about a hundred years ago, called Fife. Many houses are still here but the businesses are gone. The railroad came through in 1907 and is still a busy rail. You can visit Bethany by taking Interstate 85 south of Atlanta. Exit at Georgia Highway 74 and turn left. About a half mile south of the interstate is a traffic light for Milam Rd. Turn left here and follow Milam Rd. to the four-way stop. You will see the Bethany United Methodist Church across the street, on your left. Founded in 1856 the present sanctuary was built in 1898. The congregation of about 300 members is still very active in Fayette county. The cemetery will be on your right, on the opposite corner from the church. At one time the church building was located here, too. We'd love to see you any Sunday morning at 11:00am!
I'm hoping to get some census data on this site this Spring, so I hope you'll visit again. Is there anything you'd like to suggest for a Fayette county page? Drop me a line and I'll do what I can!
