Dan began practicing ventriloquism and puppetering at the age of five, (according to him, because he didn't have any friends!). From this early beginning he has built a career which has yielded many worthwhile projects and spanned over two decades. In 1979 Dan was contracted by the City of Phoenix (Arizona) to present a program about traffic safety to it's elementary schools. Over a five year span, Dan appeared at one hundred plus schools many times over. In 1981 Dan and his puppet "friends" were honored guests at the National Safety Council's annual Congress. Dan Horn's traffic safety program became so popular, an independent production company produced a film of his show. Coupled with an educational package Dan helped develop, this film, now in release in video, continues to educate and entertain school children nationally.
In 1981, Dan joined the cast of KPHO TELEVISION'S THE WALLACE AND LADMO SHOW (which aired from 1954 to 1990). For seven years television audiences enjoyed this children's comedy program featuring Dan and his puppets each weekday morning. Dan was able to contribute many aspects of his personality to the show: comedy and comedy writing, ventriloquism, puppet design, costume and set construction, drawing and music composition. With the exposure from this extremely popular show and it's hilarious comedy routines (it was a not so well - kept secret that the show was just as popular with college students and adults as it was with the kids!
Although Dan Horn spends a great amount of time traveling the road doing comedy, his favorite place to be is at home with his six top fans - his wife, their two children, dog, cat, and mouse. Dan and his family make their home in Chandler, AZ. (Borrowed From Dan's Website....) |
