Zada replied, ¡§We only wanted to express our anger and
discontent to the killer of the PN Centre. We couldn¡¦t comprehend why they had
to burn down the whole city when they could not find Esonia. We try not to be
destructive. We just want somebody to hear our voices. We would go to the Port
and mess up the supplies that go to the PN Centre. We write on the boxes with
spray paint, articulating our fury. I must admit that it didn¡¦t prove
anything. We sometimes got into trouble because of this¡Xwe made the police
chase after us. It sounds crazy but we really had a great time.¡¨
Toft recalled, ¡§I remember one day when we were painting
boxes, a man in a strange green coat came up to us and yelled at us. He was so
horrifying and later, we discovered that he was somehow related to PN Centre. We
beat him up and the police came. Cat got arrested. Lars and I got away but we
went back to the police station after collecting a bucket of stones. We broke
the windows at the police station and almost got ourselves into trouble. We ran
away just in time, but Cat was released without charge later that day since she
was only fifteen years old. She came back like a heroine, though not all the
grown-ups in the city could identify with her action. She became one of the
¡¥senior members¡¦ in the DARK though she is a couple years younger than we
are.¡¨
¡§But
don¡¦t you think it¡¦s rather unfair?¡¨ Heidis asked, ¡§That man, I don¡¦t
think I know him, may be related to the PN Centre, but maybe he has nothing to
do with the attack of the Vega City.¡¨
¡§This
was never fair in the first place.¡¨ Lars told her, ¡§What has the lost lives
of Vega City has to do with Esonia¡¦s extermination? I¡¦m not blaming Esonia
for the attack. We all love her and we try our best to protect her. We¡¦re only
angry at Felin and the Boss for destroying our lives and we want that debt to be
paid.¡¨
Ponnie didn¡¦t understand
what they were talking about and she wondered around the shop. She saw some
weapons lying on a side table and she picked it up. Lars first spotted her
toying with the sword-like weapon. He was afraid that she would hurt herself and
he went to her side.
Heidis asked Zada, ¡§Did
you make all these weapons?¡¨
Zada nodded, ¡§Yes. We
make them out of scrap metals we can collect from the Port and Titian City.
Though we tried not to get involved in fights, it¡¦s always best to have
something to protect ourselves.¡¨ She showed Heidis the collection of weapons,
¡§We invented some of them to suit our needs.¡¨
Heidis studied every one of
them in great interest. (If you are interested in any particular weapon, click
on it and Zada will explain how it works. If you get bored with this subject,
get around and talk to Toft.) Heidis asked Toft who was standing behind Zada,
¡§Is Esonia a member of the DARK?¡¨
¡§Not
really.¡¨ Toft answered, ¡§She said she supports us with all her heart, but
she doesn¡¦t work with us. I think she¡¦s afraid that she might put us in
danger. But we are not afraid. We wanted to go to the PN Centre with her, but
she refused to let us.¡¨
¡§That¡¦s because what
she¡¦s doing is dangerous.¡¨ Heidis told him.
Suddenly, a child ran into
the shop to notify Zada, ¡§Entry of Aqua People¡¦s been detected around gate
5! They damaged the water gates.¡¨
The DARK members grew
alert. Toft sounded the alarm. The three members picked up their weapons. Zada
turned to Heidis and Ponnie, ¡§Excuse us. We must deal with those intruders.¡¨
¡§That¡¦s fine.¡¨ Heidis replied and said, ¡§We¡¦ll try and help.¡¨
She and Ponnie followed the three outside.
