Daily Diary:
Welcome to October 2000. Niki gave me some bad
news last night. The hours she is expected to work in her new job are different
to those she was first told. On Saturdays she is expected in work at 16:00. This
completely ruins any chances of me watching football at weekends. She was
originally told she would start at 18:00 which meant I would only be able to go
to home games. With the different start time it means I can't get to any
football. She works Tuesday nights and that is the only other time Chester play
so that's no good either. I was banking on getting to home games every other
Saturday. Life really is a bitch.

I've carried out major open heart surgery on my computer
today. It was getting really really slow and becoming a pain in the arse. So I
went the whole hog and refomated the "C" drive. Thankfully I have two
hard drives so I could save a lot of stuff to the second one so I didn't lose it
e.g. My web pages. I was going to cut the grass and take the kids to an ice
cream farm today but the weather didn't let me do either. I'll try again
tomorrow.
Chester managed a 1 - 1 draw at Forest Green Rovers today but
I don't know what it means to our league position. I've spent the whole day
indoors today which pisses me off. I was outdoors last night. I went to the
Woodies. I was supposed to go to Weatherspoons with Stuey but he was ill last
night and didn't go out. I had a few beers and a chat with a few of "the
boys" and walked home. On the way home I was desperate for a piss and
stopped in a small alley to have one. My zip got stuck and I ended up wetting
myself! Oops.

Tonight is a big night on the telly. Last night a 2 part
"Father Ted" started. It concludes tonight with Ted having to kick
Bishop Brennan up the arse! Paul called me today. He is still in Thailand, not
for long though. This Saturday he leaves for Lisbon, Portugal. He'll be working
there till next August. He's the last member of the original GM launch team
still on the planned assignment. The Portugal thing is a big extention for him
and it will mean he has spent 3 years working abroad in total. I've posted his
link before but I'll repeat it now as I don't have a specific links page. www.oocities.org/differentcountries
maybe I'll have to make a links page, now I think about it this whole site could
do with a revamp. But finding the time or motivation to do it will be a problem.
Tomorrow manager-less England take on Finland in the next qualifying game for
World Cup 2002. Wales play Poland so I'll have to get out the Polish football
scarf the Opel Polska SQA bought for me. It doesn't matter who Wales's opponents
are, I just cannot want the sheep shaggers to win!

Today there was some good news on the football front, for a
change. I managed to scrape enough money together to go and see Chester play
Kettering Town at Chester. I met Stuey for a pint before the game. He was a
little jaded as he had been up drinking till 5:00am this morning. Ralph and
Brewy came into the pub too and we all went together in Brewys car. Chester had
their typical poor first half and I expected nothing from the game at half time.
Then Kettering came out and scored in the first minute of the second half.
"Cometh the hour cometh the man", as they say. The man in this case
being Steve Whitehall. He brought us back to 1 - 1 with a thunderbolt from 25
metres. He followed this up with a close range bullet header from a corner to
put us in front. The game finished 2 - 1 to Chester and depending on other
results we could be third now.

I was hoping that England would inspire me to write huge
paragraphs about the style of their victory over Germany. But of course they
chose to play a crap formation for the first half and collectively go to sleep
when they conceded a free kick inside the first 8 minutes. The second half was
better but it would have been impossible to have been worse. Today's game was
the last ever England football international game to be played at the existing
Wembley stadium. The commentators were reeling off the names of the great and
good of former English footballers, referring to their individual moments of
glory. What were we presented with for the modern day feast of football? Answer:
A complete load of shite! I've written extensively about the English views on
their own team during Euro 2000 but the same things apply now, 4 months later
nothing has changed. Fair do's to the krauts though, they deserved to win as
they were smarter than England and when England did finally show some attacking
play the square heads soaked it all up and came away smiling. They were quality,
in particular Deitmar Hamman, who not only scored but bossed the game. The
standard he set was not matched by anybody else on the field, except maybe his
fellow countryman Nuvotny(?)
So I continue to look for inspiration to add something
different to my web page. I could bore the arse off the www by moaning about
work but it would be too depressing. I can't even go to football tomorrow to get
rid of my pent up frustration as I'm skint, broke, on the bones of my arse
etc.

Update coming, watch this space. I need to find something to
inspire me, I don't know what to write.......

Yesterday at work I found out that my boss has changed. I was
originally told I worked for one bloke and then, apparently, it changed.
Unfortunately nobody bothered their arse to tell me. Proof, if ever it was
needed, that I work for a company that doesn't give a shit about the people that
it employs. I expected it to be difficult adjusting to working back in my home
plant but they are hardly making it easier for me. I am completely pissed off
with the place and as soon as I can find something better I'm off. |
