Goals of Certification To
improve, on a continuing and systematic basis, the level of professionalism
of human resource development professionals and organizational psychologists. To
provide recognition to human resource development professionals and
organizational psychologists who have proven knowledge of the general
principles and practices of industrial and organizational psychology or human
resource development, and who have demonstrated a high level of achievement
and conduct in the practice of their profession; To educate
the public, human resource development and organizational psychology clients,
and members of human resource development and organizational psychologists
consulting organizations that the practice of human resource development and
organizational psychology calls for special training and experience; To inform
the public, human resource development and organizational psychology clients,
and members of human resource development and organizational psychologists
consulting organiztions of the qualifications of professionals; To
encourage and assist human resource development and organizational psychology
practitioners and consultants in maintaining and increasing their knowledge
and competence through continuing education and professional development
activities; Three Certifications Certified
Human Resource Manager (CHRM) ® Certified
Human Resource Consultant (CHRC) ® Certified
Organizational Psychologist (COP)
® Certification Action Steps 1. Select the certificate program for which you feel
qualified. o
The CHRM® designation is designed for human resource
professionals employed full- or part-time in organizations.
2. Complete the Application for Certification and send with the portfolio evaluation fee to the IHRDI office nearest
you (addresses below). If you are not a member of the IHRDI then you will
also need to complete a membership
application. 3. Update your resume and document a minimum number
of years of professional experience as a human resource development manager
or consultant, or organizational psychologists, in accordance with the table
below. Evidence of degrees earned may be requested.
4. Write case studies based on
actual management experiences or consulting engagements that demonstrate
competence in different core competencies (see below) in accordance with the
table below.

for the portfolio evaluation fee (the first year's membership fee is included
in the portfolio evluation fee). 6. Mail all of the required documents and payment to

82070 7. You must earn and document a minimum of 60
professional development hours every three years (an average of 20 hours per
year) for recertification. A recertification folder will be sent to you upon
certification. Continuing professional education documentation is due every
three years. Nonmember certification renewal fees must be paid annually. The IHRDI, Inc. is a self-funded
organization. Its costs for operations and administrative staff come from
membership and portfolio fees
Portfolios will not be evaluated until the
evaluation fee has been paid. Note that the portfolio evaluation fee includes
the first year's membership fee. |
