JASON'S 1996 Z28 CAMARO 2003 PERFORMANCE PAGE | ||||||||||||||
2003 PERFORMANCE PAGE 2003 Performance Numbers: Not a very good year for racing. Though this should have been by far my best year, the car ran poorly for what I had done. I was looking for high 10's NA, mid 10's on a 100 shot of N2O, but I was not even close at all. I went to the track twice and one run each time. I was basically so pissed off that I refused to try again. I ended running the following times in 2003. The first time out a 12.556@111.93 MPH and the second time out a 12.49@110 MPH with both times being on motor. Part of the reason why my car was so much slower was I think I smoked another differential and my 60's were 2.0's. Ouch. The reasons for my dismal performance this year. A improperly ground camshaft and traction issues. Now I rarely will talk bad about a shop, but I have to let anyone that might remotely be interested in GTP to look elsewhere. I bought my GTP-VI from them and paid over $400.00 for this cam. I paid this price knowing full well that it is basically a GM 847 cam, but I assumed that since I was paying top dollar for a cam, it would be accurate and would not require degreeing it in. I was flat wrong and the cam was advanced 8 degrees when installed straight up. When I called GTP about this problem, I was informed that this was not uncommon at all and told to simply degree it in. Great, all I want to do is pull the front of the car off and do this to fix a problem that should not be there. My 2003 modifications: Finished working on my stock LT1 cylinder heads.
