A Word about this Website with Officers of Public Sector Banks

This is an appeal from me to colleague officers working in Nationalised & other Government owned banks in India, as also to office bearers of Associations representing interests of Bank Officers. My specific request addressed to you is hereunder:-

Personal Web site of R.Kannan is an educational and literary project. It is an endeavour to fill up beneficially the remaining years in my after-retirement-life. It is conceived under categorisation "Society & Culture, - Issues & Causes, - Welfare of Bank Officers."

You may access my first page at the web address - http://in.oocities.com/kstability/first-page.html. This represents my spirit and my labour. No other resources are spent, thanks to Yahoo GeoCities Portal, who have made available to me Server storage facility on the Internet of as much as 15 MB, with requisite web hoisting tools for the purpose - all for no charge. They have provided comprehensive tutorial on HTML and web-designing, thus providing me full encouragement. The project was first started on 15.02.2002 as a single man's effort. Today (Aug.2002) I have more than 250 web pages on diverse topics on this Site.

What is achieved is a beginning. There is still a long path to cover. The pages on "Learning Circle" is a major task and this is yet to make a significant start. It has only a symbolic shape now.

Think of Indian Banking Today & Tomorrow - The "tomorrow" assures you of great hopes and potential to bring out the best in you. But the "today" is not a happy phenomenon with the mess of past anomalies still persisting. The portal efforts to meet the threats that confront officers and to prepare them to face the future with confidence. It foresees tremendous future growth prospects for Indian Banking and for knowledge based Service Industry in the new economy with global opportunities, when the hurdles that have grown in the way are removed. My endeavour is to make officers look ahead prepare themselves and harvest the stupendous openings that promises to unfold in the coming years.

To make your performance safe and full-proof, please visit my web-page dealing with 6-Step, 20-Point Service Code & Ethics where a precise account of both the threats and opportunities are presented to you, with suggestions how best you can meet the both.

Before that you may like to know more about me and my past career in MYBANK. Please get familiarized with this term (MYBANK), which will only be used by me to identify the Institution I served. Please view my pages dealing with My encounters with Corporate Corruption in my Service and my project about Life after Retirement

All projects in the website are for the information and benefit of Bank officers. These are detailed in Title Page Literary Projects. While "Integrity In Public Life & Service is the principal Project, major efforts are invested in the project on Departmental Inquiries, with connected subjects of "Safeguards & Remedies", "Crime & Punishment" and "Knowledge of Law Essential for Public servant". The project describing "Indian Banking Today & Tomorrow" is intended as a status report to understand our recent banking history in India.

  1. Please lend me your time to peruse the contents of the different pages and favour me a critical/constructive feed back. This will help me to revise/upgrade or improve the needed portions or discard the unwanted.

  2. Kindly also critically assess the different projects and enlighten me the usefulness of each subject, like "Crime & Punishment", "Safeguards for Public Servants" etc. Please also suggest me if any new subject matter is to be covered, to make the site more informative and beneficial to Bank officers.

  3. The purpose of this site is also to crusade against widespread corporate corruption presently prevalent in many PSBs, which when successfully eradicated/minimised, will result in quantum jump in the growth and profitability of banks, cheaper service to customers and better compensation for bank officers. I will gracefully request for your guidance in this matter, the role that officers could play in this mission.

  4. I have drawn a good amount of source material from the Internet. All these have been acknowledged individually to the respective authors. But all other topics are out of my own expression, out of my experience and thought. Trade Unions of Bank officers are authorised to print and distribute any material from this educational site to interested persons. If nominal fee is charged, I have no objection, but I will request that such amount be not used for administrative expenses, but only for members' welfare (Legal assistance) to maintain the Educational Sanctity and Non-Commercial(Social & Cultural) Character of the site.

  5. Please collect statistics for the last 5 years of disciplinary cases conducted in your bank both under non-vigilance and vigilance categories cadrewise. You will find two classes of employees here, the privileged are immune to charge sheets and the forsaken are those who really serve the customers and bring the business and revenue. They also reap the discomfort. I have given suggestion for organising Officers Legal Assistance Forum. Please give constructive thought to this.

  6. I have also suggested retired employees and officers brought within the ambit of current banking developments and social activities. Please peruse my web-pages starting with Life After Retirement - Title Page. Please consider the enormous benefit to you of associating actively with former colleagues of the industry. And all of you will eventually join this stream

Corruption cannot be erased totally from public life, as long as human tendency consists of both positive and negative elements. But that should not also justify for PSBs being the front-runners in this race. Can we afford to generate heaps of NPAs year after year. Does this speak of our integrity and efficiency? Please read my Chapters NPA. Who are more vulnerable? Who have higher incidence to get corrupt? Who have controlling interest and cutting edges to interact with big customers? But this is not a reflection on the entire senior and top management of every public sector bank. It is our responsibility, and more for the middle-aged generation of bank officers in the age group 35-50 to accept leadership and strive towards Clean & Pure Institutions.
