   A Little More About Showmanship
1. A topnotch lamb showman should
    have the right attitude.  It can
    become quite obvious to a judge
    if the showman's mind is in outerspace.
2. Be familiar with the show
    schedule, enter the ring on time
    and have show manners in the ring
    and out, helping other exhibitors
    if needed.
3. Watch previous classes being
    judged to better understand the
    show ring arrangement and the
    officials request.
4. Become familiar with the lamb and
    know its weak and strong points
    before show day.
5. Know information about your
    project such as a lamb's weight,
    breed, age, health or feeding
    program . The judge may ask you
    these questions.
Records Should Include:
1.Purchase Record:
      
-purchase date,
      
-price per lb.
      
-weight of each lamb
      
-price
      
-breed
      
-behavior observations  &
     
-remarks or comments
2. Medical-Health:
     
- ear tag #'s
     
- date of birth
     
- vacinations-products-date
    
- medications-product-dates
     
- worming-products-date
    
- health observations
3. Feed records:
    
- type of feed, cost of feed
     
- cost - misc. supplies
     
- how often fed
     
- bedding info.
     
- observations
     
- remarks or comments
 
4. Exercise:

5. Total cost determinations.
      include:
             
-shearing
             
- pen fee
              
- cost of food etc.
  
6. How much to sell for
       to break even.
Top-notch Judges
The biggest factor that judges look for these days is if the lamb  is shown naturally.
Keep the market lambs feet on the ground, feet placement at the four corners and not stretched out.
If you are going to be breast bracing the lamb when the judge comes around, do it properly and in a way that it benefits the animal being shown;  instead of just making the effort to look good.
