more Marv's stuff
In July, 2000 I was between packing trips and decided to explore Mt. Edith Cavell.  This is the melt water from Cavell Glacier behind the water and backed by Mt. Edith Cavell.  It was a pleasant and informative way to spend an afternoon.
July, 2000 again.  The impressive Ramparts on the west side of the Tonquin Valley. I took 8 days going into and through the Tonquin Valley. I began at the Cavell Lake Trailhead hiking up the Astoria River into the Valley.  I exited via Maccarib Pass and Portal Creek.  It was a magnificent 8 days.
Aug, 1999 and July, 2000.  The Sulphur Skyline or Sulphur Ridge is a really great day hike to initiate novices.  It has wonderful views with a reasonable effort for a short period. Also, the trailhead is at the Miette Hot Springs parking lot.  It is nice to have a hot tub after the trip.
In early Aug, 2000 I had a day to fill while waiting for entry to Lake O'Hara.  I planned a hike in Yoho in the Takaka Falls area.  In the parking lot I met the most lively and zesty woman of 75 years and joined her in a delightful hike into the Emerald Basin, returning via a circuit around Emerald Lake.
Lake O'Hara in Yoho.  I swear this place is magical.  It has such a wonderful feeling about it.  So much beauty in a small valley.  I've met people who have returned twenty times.  This is my third time. It is the first time I've taken pictures.  I did a neat video the first time I was here.  This trip was in Aug, 2000.
