Intro

Introduction

Development

    Life on Earth has majorly been impacted by natural disasters thoughout its history. Many have even stated that the face of the planet has been shaped by these multitudinous disasters. Everything from the ice age 2.7 million years ago to the eruption of the Vesuvius volcano around 79AD. Along with these events, numerous earthquakes in Japan and the Middle East have helped shape this world. The most recent event would be the hurricane that struck New Orleans.
      To try and counter these disasters, scientest are tring to interpret disasters, to make predictions. At the foot of Vesuvius volcano two thousand years ago, people in Pompii were trapt and had no way out. Today though we have many different ways to avoid disasters such as the one of Pompii. ?Meteorological prognoses can now be made, satellites take pictures of our planet and are avalible for interpretation, to prepare for disasters.
     Before sceintest had trouble calculating all the data in a resonable amount of time, but now thanks to computers and satillites we have easier ways. This is one of the many applications of geospatial thinking.
