Motorcycles, Cars & Whatever!
A collection of current and retired vehicles of The Johnson's and extended family
My 1962 Chevy C10 original pick-up I purchased in 1983. Everything about it was original including the full drive train, glass, 3 speed trans and body. It had the 283cid V-8 engine and was very reliable. I had plans on cleaning it up into a nice clean piece until a divorce changed my plans. I originally bought it for $1500 and later like a dummy, traded it in for $500 towards a new 1989 Dodge Dakota below.
The Dodge was a great truck with the 3.9 liter V-6 and 4-speed overdrive. The truck road like a dream and was built like a tank. I look at the new one's now and I have to gag. The square look and brown 2-tone combination really set it off nicely. 6 months later in 1990 I bought my wife Kelly a brand new 1989 Honda Accord Lxi which was also a great car. The Honda was outgrown by our kids 10 years later and was traded in for that big white Ford you saw on the previous page.
Here's Gerrit sitting atop our 1980 AMC Concord his mother just had to have. It was a very nice riding and powerful car with the legendary 258cid straight 6 cylinder with lock-up transmission. I think we paid $3200 for this one and I sold it for the same. It also fell victim of the divorce situation, but was a great car.
This is one of my race bike's on the back of my 1971 AMC Gremlin-X. The bike is a 1973 Suzuki TM-125 moto-cross that was fully built by FMF in So Calif. The car was great also, had that great 258cid 6-cylinder with ton's of power. With the motorcycle on the back (had no money for a trailer) the car had no problems. The Gremlin was and still is considered an UGLY car by most people, but they drove and handled great. I believe we traded this one in for that Concord above.

If we were to talk about expensive HOT WHEELS diecast cars, the Gremlin was used to design the famous "
Open Fire" model that is very rare and sought after by most serious diecast collectors today including myself.
Now for a sad note...
In 1981 I purchased the latest and greatest Yamaha YZ-250 mx bike seen here. In fact this is a pic of it the day I brought it home. I paid $1500 for it and it was a fantastic motorcycle to turn the wick up on. The most fun I had on it was taking on the open deserts of Southern California at 90mph or so. I rode it for a couple years and then I had the itch to go to an Open Class bike, a 1983 KTM 495. So my brother Mark bought it from me and he enjoyed it a couple years also.

Well, Im sad to report there was an accident at our dad's house where the Yamaha was stored... A fire broke out and as a result...
It died a violent death! Here are its remains still sitting in a pile. I know Mark was very crushed as I to learn of it's demise and to this day is still bummed about it. The neat thing about this model was that it was the last year Yamaha produced the Y-frame monoshock swing arm design making it a true classic to own.
ULTRA BUMMER !!!  See the Replacement bike
On a happier note, here is Gerrit the day he learned how to ride his first bike in 1984.....Precious!

In case your curious why his name is spelled that way, It comes from the famous European Moto Cross racer "Gerrit Wolsink" of Holland.
