Carol Anderson Samuelson, 62, Russell,
died at Warren General Hospital on Friday evening, June 4,2004, after an extended illness.She was born on Oct. 7, 1941, in
Warren, a daughter of the late Melvin W. and Mary Kay Giltinan Anderson
and had lived most of her life in Warren. She was an avid crotchetier, bingo player and reader. "
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brian
Samuelson, and a son, Charles Engel.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Art
(Desiree) Sturtevant, Warren, and Christine Smith, Warren; three sons, John Miller,Youngsville, Joseph Engel, Pittsfield, and Anthony Engel, Russell; two brothers, Bill Anderson, Brooksville, Fla. and Melvin Anderson, Warren; three sisters, Mrs. Matt
(Mary Lou) Trusso, Bridgeport, Fla. and
Jamestown, N.Y., Mrs. Anna Marie Young,
Tiona, and Mrs. Danny (Rita) Cogar, Sutton, WV., 15 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral and committal service will be
conducted on Tuesday at I p.m. at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., with the Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain at Warren
General Hospital, officiating. Burial will
be at Brookston Cemetery.

Melvin Robert Anderson: Born May 30, 1943.Died Jan. 26, 2009 Mel passed away at his home in Warren, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin W. and Mary Anderson of Sutton, Wv. formerly of Clarendon,Pa.One sister, Carol Samuelson of Warren, Pa. He is survived by one brother, William J. Anderson of Clarendon,three sisters, Mary Lou and Matt Trusso of Harbor Port, Fla.,Anna Marie Young of Tiona,Pa.,Rita and Danny Cogar of Sutton,WV. Six children and several grandchildren and great-grand children. His body was cremated and there will be a memorial to celebrate his life at a later date.

A lifelong area resident, he was born August 31, 1949 in Jamestown, the son of Oscar L. and Helen Hedlund Samuelson. He had been employed by Westburgh Electric, and had also worked for a number of years for Jerry Peterson. He was a member of the Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of Vikings.An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed collecting arrowheads. In addition to his mother of Jamestown, he is survived by a sister, Patricia Allen, Clemmons, N.C.; his wife, Carol Samuelson, Warren, whom he married Nov. 7,1986; two step-daughters, Desiree Sturdevant, Warren, and Christine Smith, Sheffield; three step-sons, Joseph and Anthony Engle, both of Warren, and John Miller, Arizona; 15 step-grandchildren; and a step-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death in 1959 by his father; and a stepson, Chuck Engle. No funeral service or visitation will be ob- served. Arrangements are by the Lind Fu- neral Home, Jamestown. |
