Introduction to our two main characters, Jenny and Erik, ten
years before the main action of the story takes place. Jenny is a chubby
ten-year old being tormented in a school playground. Erik is a menacing
shadow walking the streets of Paris during the days of the Commune. |
|
Jenny's journey from New York City to Paris and her decision to try out
for a position at the Paris Opera. Once there, she meets the young singer,
Christine Daae. |
|
Jenny auditions despite animosity from Carlotta and is "adopted"
by Christine, Raoul, and Meg. The four of them go to dinner unaware of a
mysterious watcher following them. |
|
The four friends go to dinner at Raoul's request and are interupted by
an unseen soul. Jenny confronts the soul-torn shadow and finds that Christine
is hiding something from all of them. |
|
Christine finds Jenny a room at the Opera and their watcher is introduced
as being the Phantom. He watches over and decided that in order to distract
himself from Christine, he will devote time to helping Jenny. The next morning
Jenny "sits in" on Christine and Erik's singing lesson |
|
Jenny has a nightmare and is immediately comforted by a concerned Erik.
Out of pity, he takes her down to his home under the Opera so she will feel
safe. Jenny discovers that Erik and the Phantom are one and the same. |
|
Jenny's internal thoughts upon waking in Erik's house and realizing that
she is in love without someone ut of her league. |
|
Jenny finds that Erik is in love with Christine, adding insult to injury,
and resolves to help him. Erik convinces her to attend that evening's masquerade
ball. |
|
At the masquerade, Erik finds himself drawn not to Christine, but to Jenny. |
|
Erik's thoughts after hearing Christine and Raoul's plans to run away
and his downward spiral leadng to the kidnapping of Christine and the near
murder of Raoul. Jenny becomes the catalyst that saves Erik from his own
darker nature. |
|
Jenny conceals Eriks' whereabouts from the Opera mob and proceeds to comfort
her distraught friend as Christne never could. |
|
Erik wakes in Jenny's comforting arms and resists the idea of letting
himself love again so soon, despite his heart and body's desires. Jenny
reminds herself that Erik would never love her no matter what she chooses
to do. |
|
Erik tries to confront Jenny about her intentions and her recent habit
of being melancholy. She evades his questions and falls ill. |
|
Jenny's condition grows worse and, at a loss, Erik seeks out Christine
for help in discerning the cause of her depression. Christine goes and Jenny
tells her friend all. |
|
Jenny recovers at Christine and Erik's assurances and things resume their
normal course... until Erik gives in the urge to hear Jenny sing his music.
Things get a little hot and heavy. |
|
Despite some doubts on both sides, Erik confessed a longing for Jenny
and allows himself some small measure of contact with her. |
|
Erik takes Jenny to Notre Dame for a full "confession" a la
Frollo in Notre Dame de Paris. |
|
The issue of Erik's face is finally confronted and his fears prove unfounded.
The love between Jenny and Erik is consumated at last. |
|
Certain parties hire an investigator from the Surtete to solve the mystery
of the Opera Ghost once and for all. Said Inspector may already know more
about Erik than most do. |
