| This probably means that your drum was stored in a damp environment, or not used for a while. It gives a sick "thud" when struck. Not playable at all! |

| Your drum needs heat! Rest it against a heating bad for a few minutes. If you don't have one available, use a hair dryer on a low heating evenly on the head of the drum. Feel it often, so it doesn't get overly tight. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Your drum has probably encountered a hot environment! This is a dangerous state for a drum, as the skin can split if it gets too tight! You'll know it's tight, as it gives you a tinny, twangy sound. |
Rub some water on the head of the drum. This should loosen it up quite nicely. Playing the drum should also loosen it. Water should be applied to the drum before each use. |
