Striking the Bodhran
Think of your Bodhran as a big clock...
Home
The 9 is closest to you, and the 6 is on your lap! This is the simplest way I've ever seen it described. ;)
What is a Bodhran?
Holding a Bodhran and Tipper
You only really hit the drum with the bottom knob on your tipper!

- How to Treat Your Drum
Before a downstroke, your neutral position is that the bottom of the tipper should be pointed at 9 o'clock.
The downstroke is a strike within the movement from
9 to 6 o'clock.

It's pretty easy once you get the gist of it, and remember; It's all in the wrist, so loosen it up!

The Upstroke
The upstroke is the exact contrary of a downstroke! It's a bit tougher to master, but will come with practice. You strike the drum head from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock.
Many begginers will "scratch" the upstroke before getting a decent sound, but don't fret! It'll happen! Practise makes perfect. ;)
