Excellence In Education Award

History

Satilla Elementary was awarded the Coffee County School System's Excellence in Education Award in August of 1997.  This award was presented in recognition of the development and implementation of a character education program known as C.L.A.S.S.E.E. Kids.

A Satilla Elementary student received the 1997 Georgia Young Author Award.

Ideas for Parents

Red Ribbon Campaign

Satilla Elementary was recognized by Zell Miller, the Georgia State Governor, for it's extraordinary drug awareness program and the school's Red Ribbon Campaigns in 1996 and 1997.

Grants

Grants from state and local sources have assisted in the implementation of the Wee Deliver Mail Program, Portfolio Assessment, an Artist in Residence, a Butterfly Garden, a Staff Fitness Room, and a Family Resource Room.

Georgia Department of Education's                Teacher Academy

The C.L.A.S.S.E.E. Kids Program, a model of character education, was presented at the Georgia Department of Education's Teacher Academy.  A video developed for this program won a public relations award.
