Satilla's Show Choir
Goals
SATILLA ELEMENTARY SHOW CHOIR was formed in December, 1999.  The Show Choir is comprised of fourth and fifth grade students.  These students practice after school two days a week under the direction of a show choir team consisting of: Carla Woodward, Sally Bryant, Shad Sirmans, Stephanie Wheeler, and Beth Paulk.

The choir's first performance was at Satilla's Christmas tree-lighting in December, 1999.  Other performances included: a mini-concert presented at Shady Acres Nursing Home just before Christmas holidays; a spring concert, called
ENCORE!, in May, 2000, was an absolute blockbuster.  The choir brought the house down with songs from the past fifty years like "I Believe in Music", "Rock Around the Clock", and the theme song from Titanic while various choir members danced on mini-stages surrounded by props which were student-built and manipulated.  The concert was fun to see and fun to perform.

Ideas for
Parents
Members must not only love to sing, but also, they must be dedicated.  To be in show choir, you must attend after school practices two days a week.  While other students are watching TV or goofing off, show choir members are still at school working hard.  Their parents must also rearrange their busy schedules to pick up their children after practices.

This year, the choir plans a Veterans' Day show for the week of November 6th.  They will also be part of the school's tree-lighting ceremony, sing at the nursing home, and present a spring concert.  The choir has 26 hard-working members who are looking forward to performing this year.  They hope to see you there!
Satilla's
Fifth Grade Band
Students in the fifth grade may join the band.  The band practices during the school day under the direction of Mr. Jim Knowles.  The band performs at our Christmas tree lighting and at the spring concert.

Members of Satilla's fifth grade band generally continue their music education by joining one of our award winning middle school bands.
