The Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispanola with Haiti.  It is part of the Carribean and only a few hundred miles away from Florida.  The capital city, Santo Domingo, is a bustling city with extremes of rich and poor.

Youth For Christ has an office in this city and works with high schools and churches in the area to reach youth.  They host many project trips throughout the year.  They help to expand churches and ministry through construction, drama and Vacation Bible School.  Youth For Christ built an elementary school and vocational school on the outskirts of Santo Domingo, near the Medical Missions International Hosptial (Elias Santana Hospital ).  Here, students not only get a great education, but also are given the opportunity to hear about Christ.

I worked with YFC project serve trips that came to the DR.  Along with this, I also worked at the Elias Santana Hospital with the nutrition program and went out to the countryside to bring medical care to those who do not have access.
