Yu-Gi-Oh The Movie    The Pyramid of Light
The Movie opens on the famous ancient tablet where you see Atemu (Yami) and Preist Seto dueling. Someone explains about an Ancient Pharaoh who destroyed an ancient evil 5000 years ago.
Next we open on a brief encounter seeing Yugi building the Millennium Puzzle.
After a few moments of seeing Yugi putting random pieces of the Puzzle together we see a group of Egyptologists and archaeologists find the lost tomb of Anubis (The Egyptian God of the Underworld) and they question why the sarcophagus was chained to the wall. They manage to enter the door to the right of the sarcophagus by rubbing the millenium symbol, and they see a blue pyramid (that resembles the Millennium Puzzle, but it’s upright. It is called the Pyramid of Light). Then we move on to Yugi building the puzzle. Yugi has put all but one piece of the puzzle together. The centre piece with the eye (If you have seen the original first season of Yugioh or read the manga, you will see that here isn't what really happens). Yugi at this point, is extremely happy that there is only one piece of the Puzzle left to go and knows that his Grandpa will be proud. He reaches for the last piece, takes it out of the golden case it came in and puts it in its place. As he does so, the puzzle begins to glow.
Over with the Men who found Anubis's Tomb, when the Millennium Puzzle started glowing, the door that the men entered into the small room closed behind them. Then a voice begins to chant in Egyptian (It is Anubis‘s voice). The Lost Tomb of Anubis crumbles and collapses around the men. The scene once again changes and is back with Yugi. As the millennium puzzle still glows, shadows now being to shoot out from the eye of the puzzle. These Shadows turn into Monsters, Yugi becomes scared and turns into Atemu (or Yami, depending on your knowledge of the show). The Monsters don't react to him becoming the Ancient Pharaoh. Then he shouts at them something along the lines of "Shadow creatures be gone, I command you! Return to Dark realm from whence you came!" And then the creatures disappear and Atemu turns back to Yugi.

News about Yugi's great accomplishments in Dueling and his Egyptian god cards are sweeping the land! People from all over want to take a crack at him in hopes of winning the Egyptian God cards in a duel. We now open to a duel between Seto Kaiba and Yugi (Who is of course Atemu at the time) They of course are arguing and Kaiba calls Atemu a "Pompus Windbag". Seto already had one Blue Eyes White Dragon on the field and summons his other two. With the help of Polymerization he combines the 3 Blue eyes to summon his Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. With the help of some other cards, the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon becomes the strongest monster on the field. Atemu has out his 3 God Cards. Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and The Winged Dragon of Ra. Using their special ability, he sacrifices Slifer and Ra to make Obelisk’s power infinite. Obelisk attacks, winning the duel. The Duel turns out to be a computerized Simulation that was created by Men Hired by Kaiba to find a winning stratagem to finally beat Yugi. The Men plead for Kaiba to give them another chance because they are really close to their goal. Kaiba is now furious at their feeble attempts to find a way for him to defeat Yugi and fires them.
At Pegasus's castle is the middle of the night, an invisible being walks up to a painting on Pegasus’s wall. He opens the painting and the safe behind it with more chanting. Inside is a small deck of cards. The being makes a card appear in the middle of the deck and then vanishes. Pegasus is having a nightmare that seems to be foreshadowing the return of some kind of evil. We see Pegasus standing in the middle of the desert at night and looks up to see the 3 Egyptian Gods. Very small golden orbs starts float upward and you hear chanting in Egyptian (which is Arabic, egyptains speak Arabic) the light from the Orbs seem to turn into the pyramid of Light and enclose the gods with it. Pegasus wakes up quickly form his dream and blames the White Wine Spritzers he had before he went to bed. He claims to think that something evil is going to unfold. In the Morning we see Solomon’s Games shop and Solomon is at the front deck reading the News paper which happens to have an article about a new Egyptian Exhibit at the museum. It is filled with artifacts found in the Lost Tomb of Anubis. Solomon spots a picture of the Pyramid of Light and says to himself that it looks like the Millennium Item. Elsewhere, Kaiba is about to embark on a quick visit to Pegasus's Castle. Before he takes off Mokuba says, "I hope you know what your doing Big Brother." Kaiba replies with, "I was just hoping the same thing." And takes off in his Blue Eyes White Jet.
Pegasus is relaxing by the Pool in a robe and slippers, one of his waiters bring him a Red Wine Spritzer when Kaiba shows up. Pegasus stands up saying "Well if it isn't my dear friend, Kaiba boy." Kaiba replies with "Save me the pleasantries, Pegasus." Pegasus comes back saying "Oh my, I think someone needs a hug." Kaiba, who is never very patient, comes straight to the point and brings up the card he knows Pegasus has. A Card to beat Yugi's God cards. Pegasus says that he doesn't have such a card, but Kaiba doesn't believe him and pushes even more for the card. Pegasus gives in and says that does have a card, but refuses to give it to Kaiba and mentions Kaiba’s many failures in trying to beat Yugi in a duel and that he isn't worthy of such a card. Kaiba says the he'll duel for them but Pegasus mentions that he is retired now (Note Pegasus is probably in his late 20's early 30s) and that he only makes places for the little fishies to gather. This angers Kaiba even more an wagers his 3 Blue Eyes white Dragon. Pegasus is surprised at Kaiba’s desperation to beat Yugi and accepts his offer to duel. Yugi and his friends (Joey, Tristan, and Tea) are on their way home from school when they see people running around in a big commotion, they all go to see whats happening when Yugi makes his way to the front. The Mob of people recognize him right away and everyone in the crowd around him wants to duel him. Joey and Tristan make their way to hold off the Mob and tell Tea to get Yugi out of there. She drags Yugi around back of the school and around to the back of the mob. Joey and Tristan Push their way through the Mob and someone makes a smart remark, calling them nobodies. Joey gets mad and shouts out "Nobody calls me a nobody you bunch of Nobodies!" and they still call him names saying they want to duel Yugi not him. Joey says that in order to duel Yugi, they have to go through a top contender and that he just so happens to know one. Tristan makes a smart remark and mentions Seto Kaiba. Joey gets mad an lables him self the "Godfather of Games". Joey starts dueling the biggest guy first. The big guy starts off the duel by using Ejection Fairy Lilly, then after the first attack from Fairy Lilly we move to see Joey dueling a younger duelist with blonde hair. Yugi appears asking if the cost is clear but the big group of people see him and run towards him, Yugi runs in the opposite direction and the mob tramples over Joey and Tristan.
Pegasus leads Kaiba to room with a small dueling arena for them to duel. Kaiba says that the arena is an out of date joke but they duel anyway. Pegasus starts the duel by using Toon World and Toon Gemini Elf in defense mode. Kaiba Summons X-head Cannon and puts two face down cards on the field. Pegasus plays Card of Sanctity, Cost down, and summons Toon Dark Magician Girl. Pegasus gets his Toon Gemini Elf to attack Kaiba’s Life point directly and take away his Monster Reborn from his hand, also Pegasus tried to get Toon Dark Magician Girl to attack Kaiba but Kaiba played Guidance Armour and attached it to Toon Gemini Elf, thus making the Toon Dark Magician Girl attack the Toon Gemini Elf. Pegasus uses the Monster Reborn card to bring back his Toon Gemini Elf and plays Ultimate Offering to sacrifice it in order to summon the Blue Eyes Toon Dragon, and also summons the Toon Summoned Skull and ends his turn. Kaiba uses Dark Core and discards his Y Dragon head from his hand, to destroy his X head Cannon he then he uses Soul Release and then summons Z Metal Tank. He then uses Return form the Different Dimension and he brings back Y Dragon Head and X Head Cannon. The three cards combine to make XYZ dragon cannon and targets the Toon World, destroying it and defeating Pegasus. When the smoke from the attack subsides Kaiba says "That’s all Folks" As a small joke. Kaiba walks over to Pegasus's case and looks through the cards the find the one to help him beat the Egyptian Gods pointing out that there are two cards instead of one. When hearing this, Pegasus is confused saying that there was only one. Kaiba doesn’t listen and takes both cards. Yugi and Tea enter the museum and they look at bulletin announcing the new Egyptian exhibit on the Lost Tomb of Anubis. Yugi looks at the Picture of the Pyramid of light and Yugi mentions that it looks like the Millennium Puzzle. They go to see the mummified Anubis and Tea gets grossed out by it and pushes Yugi forward to keep moving and they bump into Yugi's grandfather, Solomon, who is looking at the actual Pyramid of Light, placed behind a sheet of glass. They look at the pyramid and Yugis’ grandfather talks about an ancient legend of a powerful pharaoh said to have worn the Millennium Puzzle, who banished away the Dark Lord Anubis by using the Dagger of Fate. They move back to see the Mummified Anubis yet again, Yugi asks his grandpa to read what is written on the sarcophagus. Solomon reads "The eye that sees what is yet to come, its vision shall be fulfilled. Unless Blinded by events pre-determined thus light and darkness shall be destroyed." There is suddenly a bright light and Yugi is now in what seems to be a dream with him and Kaiba. It seems to be showing that Kaiba is in some kind of danger. Anubis with his jackal head comes up from behind Kaiba and picks him up by the head. Yugi wakes up to the sounds of an alarm, he quickly notices that the Mummy and the Pyramid of Light is gone. Yugi says he's going and runs off to see if Kaiba is okay. Outside the Museum Yugi runs into Mokuba who tells Yugi that his brother Seto Kaiba wishes for Yugi to meet with him at the Duel Dome and for him to bring his duel disk.
Joey and Tristan are walking and talking about the mob of people earlier that day as they head over to Yugi’s house. They watch as Yugi gets into Kaiba’s Limo and it drives away so they run after him. Yugi and Mokuba arrive at the Duel dome and Mokuba tells Yugi that his brother is waiting for him on the top floor. Yugi talks with Atemu as they travel in the elevator about the vision and the prophecy and wonders what the God cards have to do with all of this. Atemu says he doesn't know and that unfortunately his memories as the Pharaoh are clouded. Yugi wished that they knew more about the past and Atemu says that they will face the future together. Joey and Tristan run into the Duel Dome. Joey notes that Kaiba’s car is outside, therefore Yugi must be somewhere near by, Tristan take this moment to make a sarcastic remark saying how smart he was for figuring it out and asks if he thought about it on his own. Once the two walk inside, Mokuba says to them that Kaiba and Yugi are going to duel.
Kaiba starts walking to the dueling arena and holograms of cards show up on either side of him and bow and he says "Glad you could come Yugi." You see a short glance of Atemu walking up. Then there is a flashback of Kaiba placing the two new cards in his deck and he puts them through a simulation. At the end, it says that the God cards are destroyed. Atemu senses that there is Danger in the air, Kaiba tells Mokuba to seal all the exits. Kaiba and Atemu start the Duel. Kaiba starts with Familiar Knight in Defence mode. Atemu counters with his Queen’s Knight, attacking his monster allowing Kaiba another card which happened to a Black Lizard looking card. Kaiba then says to Atemu "And your being so helpful, Because why?" and Atemu says that the effect allows himself a card as well. Atemu gets King’s Knight on the field and because he has both Queen’s Knight and King’s Knight, he gets to summon Jack’s Knight and sacrifices the 3 of them for Slifer the Sky Dragon. Atemu destroys the Lizard and Kaiba uses the Magic card Obligatory Summon which allows Atemu to summon all 3 of his God cards. Kaiba chooses now to use one of the cards he got from Pegasus, the Pyramid of Light card. Atemu notices that the Pyramid of light wasn’t just an artifact, but a card as well and as Kaiba summons the card there is more chanting before Atemu‘s god cards are removed from the field. A giant glass pyramid form around Atemu, Kaiba, and the entire playing field. Yugi is standing, talking to Atemu and says that he has an uneasy feeling before he is sucked in to the Millennium Puzzle. Mokuba looks down at the Pyramid of Light card from the outside and sees a huge red eye and the ceiling above the Pyramid starts crumbling. Mokuba quickly gets down from the control centre. Joey and Tristan are watching from above and also see the red eye. A gust of wind tries to suck them in, but instead removes their souls from their bodies, forcing their souls inside. Solomon and Tea are a little ways away and see the blue light emitting from the Duel dome and Tea say the large Pyramid is the same colour as the Pyramid of Light they saw at the museum. Solomon bets that it’s no coincidence. Yugi wakes up to find himself in a big maze with stairs and doors everywhere. He realises he is in the Millennium Puzzle and begins to search for the pharaoh. Elsewhere in the maze, Joey and Tristan awake.
Yugi looks around for Atemu and is opening door after door. He becomes restless and calls out Atemu’s name (in this case he just shouts Pharoah, thats all they call him in the movie they don't even bother to call him Yami). Joey and Tristan can hear Yugi’s scream echo through the Pyrmaid and they go to find him.
Kaiba summons Mystical Space Typhoon and Peten The Dark Clown in attack mode attacking Atemu’s life points directly draining more then just Atemus life points, but also his life force. Then he also plays one face down card. Atemu summons Magician Valkyria in attack mode and attacks Kaiba’s clown. Kaiba uses his Deck Destruction Virus Card, forcing Atemu to discard 10 cards from his deck. Because of Peten’s ability, a new one automatically replaces him. Then Kaiba summons Feral Imp and sacrifices the two to bring out his Blue Eyes White Dragon. He places one card face down and attacks. Yugi sees a glimpse of Atemu walking down a dark hallway and decides to follow him. After a while of chasing after him, he sees Atemu enter a room and knows that, that isn't Atemu’s room. Yugi follows him inside. He enters a room that looks just like an ancient tomb. He See Atemu standing there looking down at Anubis’s sarcophagus that is laying down in the centre of the wall, Atemu turns into blue engergy and is consumed by Anubis. Behind the sarcophagus, placed against the wall is the ancient tablet with Atemu and Seto dueling and leading towards Anubis’s sarcophagus on either sides of the room are small sarcophagi (more than one). Old mummies crawl out from the sarcophagi. They know Yugi disturbed the room and begin to chase after him. Joey and Tristan are walking and see Yugi running towards them at full speed. They try to say hi but Yugi runs right past them saying "Talk later! Run now!" (note: this is a funny scene) Joey and Tristan have no idea what Yugi is talking about, so they look back the way he came and see group of mummies running towards them. Of course they scream and run off after Yugi. Tea and Solomon meet up with Mokuba near the big blue pyramid that Atemu and Kaiba are dueling in. Solomon talks about Anubis and how he tried to destroy the world with the help of his Pyramid of Light. Mokuba mentions that all the weird things that are happening happened after Kiaba played a card of the same name.
Atemu uses Premature Burial and brings back Magician Valkyria and with the Mage Power card brings her attack points up and attacks Kaiba‘ Blue Eyes White Dragon. Kaiba uses his Guidance Armour and attaches it to his Dark Clown and destroying it, Atemu loses 10 more cards because of the Deck Destruction cards as his cards are being taken you see and hear the Dark magician Girl Scream. Kaiba brings back Peten the Dark Clown. Then he brings out his other 2 Blue Eyes White Dragons and uses them to summon The Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon and attacks Atemu’s Magician Valkyria. Throughout this duel after the Pyramid of Light is summoned, Atemu pleads for Kaiba to stop this duel because when ever each of them lost life points, they were also losing life energy. He also told Kaiba that he knew it as well. Yugi, Joey, and Tristan stop running and come to a cliff. They see a giant floating red eye above them (the same one that drew Joey and Tristan’s souls into the Pyramid) and below them they see the Millennium Puzzle and the Pyramid of Light crahing into each other and the Millennium Puzzle is falling to pieces. They look back up and can see Atemu in his duel and they know that things don’t look too good for Atemu. Elsewhere Anubis starts to wake up…
Atemu pleads for Kaiba to stop the duel because it is turning into a dangerous Shadow duel and that Kaiba is toying with magic he can possibly understand. Kaiba won’t quit, however. He wants to beat Yugi at any cost. Atemu uses Monster Reborn and brings back his Dark Magician Girl (when the Deck Destruction card removed the cards the second time, you saw the Dark Magician Girl scream as she was discarded, making it possible for Atemu to summon her as she was in the graveyard). Then Atemu used Sage’s Stone, allowing him to Summon The Dark Magician. Atemu then sacrifices the two to summon Sorcerer of Dark Magic. Having 3 Magicians in his Graveyard (Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl and Magician Valkyria) decreases Kaiba’s Blue Eyes attack points by 1500. The Sorcerer of Dark Magic attacks Kaiba‘s Blue Eyes and then Peten. Kaiba then mentions his Deck Destruction card and it goes to take another 10 cards from Atemu’s deck. Luckily, the Sorcerer of Dark Magic stops the trap card. Kaiba uses Monster Reborn and brings out his Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Then he uses it to summon the second card he received from Pegasus. The one that was always there. He summons The Blue Eyes Shining Dragon and raises its attack points by 1500, and attacks Atemu. Atemu’s life points drop to 200 and because he has lost so much energy, he collapses to the ground. Back inside the Puzzle, Yugi, Joey, and Tristan are running when Yugi falls to the floor and suddenly feels weak. The three of them look over the their right and see a stream of energy. They notice it leads back to Anubis’s room but follow it anyways. Solomon, Tea, and Mokuba are talking when the Duel Dome floor starts to crumble. Just then Pegasus comes to the rescue in his helicopter, saving the three of them. They hesitate and Pegasus says "I'd hurry up!" And they hurry up the rope ladder. Once up the rope ladder, Pegasus explains the Kaiba and Atemu are in danger and that he mentioned he did some research on the situation. Yugi, Joey, and Tristan see that the energy leading back into the room with Anubis is feeding him. They go to stop him because they out number him 1 to 3. That’s when Anubis sends out his Mummies again. Anubis says that he will show them the future because he claims that they won’t live long enough to see it themselves. Tea some how knows her friends need her. She gets up and stands on the edge of the helicopter looking down at the Red eye on the Pyramid of light. It some how put her in a trance and she continues to want to help her friends and falls forward. Solomon, Pegasus, and Mokuba grab her body from falling but her spirit is stripped from her body and is sucked into the eye. She is engulfed by black electrical shocks and she cries out "I'm coming guys!" Yugi, Joey, and Tristan hear her and she comes in surrounded by gold glowing light, she mentions about their friendship symbol happy face they drew on their hands (This happpen at the very beginning of the series when Yugi dueled Kaiba to get him back for hurting his grandpa.) Tea is pulled away and Anubis strips the gold light from Tea (Which seems to cause her some pain and she starts screaming) and shel drops to the ground right in the middle of the mummies. She freaks out and kicks them in mid air. Joey dumbfouded say "Uh, yeah. I can do that". Then they all go to fight the Mummies. Atemu finally gains consciousness, since its his turn, he places Big Shield Guardna. Kaiba places a card face down.
Solomon, Pegasus and Mokuba see Joey and Tristan’s bodies on the second level where they were watching Yugi and Kaiba’s duel before. Both are unharmed but unconscious like Tea. Kaiba attacks with his Blue Eyes, destroying Atemu’s card. Atemu pulls out Pot of Greed and plays Watapon and Obnoxious Celtic Gaurdian. Kaiba then says "Let me see now if I have this right. You’re playing a creampuff, and an Elf." and plays a face down card. Atemu again tries to coax Kaiba to stop the duel. Kaiba wants to use The Blue Eyes Shining Dragon’s ultimate attack, Shining Nova, to destroy the Pyramid of Light so he can gain control of the God cards, but Anubis doesn't allow it, as he possesses him. Kaiba yells at him and Anubis say he's been there the entire time, whispering in Kaiba’s ear. Atemu sees Anubis appear behind Kaiba and warns him, but not soon enough. Anubis picks Kaiba up by the head and throws him to the side, knocking him unconscious as well. Anubis tells Atemu that his friends are gone, and Atemu say that they aren't and that he can still feel their presence. Anubis takes over the Duel against Atemu and creates two new cards. Anubis summons Andro Sphinx and Sphinx Teleia. He gets Sphinx Teleia to attack Atemu’s Celtic Guardian and tells Andro Sphinx to attack Atemu’s Watapon. Atemu’s life points fall to 100. Joey, Tristan and Tea try to fight off the mummies, although it’s more like Joey and Tristan fight and Tea runs. Yugi begins to wonder about the prophecy for a while and then thinks about the part of the prophecy that says "Unless blinded by events predetermined." Yugi thinks it must be another way of saying Fate and runs to Anubis's sarcophagus, remembering that the dagger of fate was in the sarcophagus. Anubis’s body has gone and Yugi finds the dagger hidden in Anubis's wrappings inside the sarcophagus. Yugi aims and hopes that this works and throws the dagger at the eye. The handle of the dagger hit’s the eye and Yugi becomes upset until a large crack begins to form in the wall… Atemu seems to sense a weakness in the Pyramid of Light and some how knows that Yugi was the cause of it and plays a card allowing him to take a card form his opponent’s graveyard. Atemu chooses the Monster Reborn card, and uses it to summon Kaiba’s Blue Eyes Shining Dragon back to the field. Then he finishes the attack Kaiba never used, Shining Nova, destroying the Pyramid of Light and the Dragon itself. Away from the Pyramid of light all the mummies and the room is destroyed. Everyone’s souls return back to their bodies.
Anubis combines Andro Sphix and Sphinx Teleia and summons Thenean, the Great Sphinx. Anubis lets out collected souls from the graveyards and feeds them to Thenean. Anubis mentions to Atemu that in their last battle he never had the chance to summon Thenean to the duel and introduces them, "Thenean Meet the Pharaoh, Pharorah Meet your Doom." Atemu uses the card Reverse of Reverse, and then Return Form the Different Dimension and gets back the Egyptian God cards. Atemu combined their power to create infinite attack strength and quickly destroys Thenean and The Pyramid of Light from around Anubis‘s neck is destroyed, all except the dark red ball, the centre of the eye. Atemu allows Yugi to take over, thinking the battle was over. Kaiba wakes up and Yugi offers to help but Seto says he doesn't need his help. Just then, the jewel from the pyramid of light starts glowing and Anubis makes all the monsters real and he becomes a giant monster dog and sends out two giant magic cards and attacks Yugi and Kaiba, sending their cards flying everywhere. He says, "Looks like your one card short Pharaoh" Joey jumps in using Gilford the Lightning and Gearfried the Iron Knight, but they don’t last to long and both cards are wiped out. The ceiling begins to crumble even more. A huge chunk of it falls and is about to hit Joey, Tristan, Mokuba, Solomon, Tea, and Pegasus when Pegasus Summons Toon Dark Magician Girl and Blue Eyes Toon Dragon to hold it back as they run for the elevator. Kaiba and Yugi are both standing and don't know what to do when Kaiba sees a card out of the corner of his eye. He picks it up and throws it to Atemu. Anubis says there’s no way they can win and Atemu summons the card Kaiba threw to him. With the help of Atemu The Blue Eyes Shining Dragon quickly destroys the Giant Dog form of Anubis. The Dark jewel cracks and shatters into pieces, and they question if its really over and Pegasus says that of course its over because there was no way someone could come back from such a crushing defeat such as that, excepto of course Kaiba. Kaiba takes off angrily and the groups talks about how it was friendship that got them through it all. Solomon mentions that it was a good thing that they didn't bring up all the damage that was done to the duel dome because he didn't think that Kaiba Insurance would cover it all, Yugi says that Kaiba has lots of money but what he doesn't have is the Millenium Puzzle and friends, and that a victorys not a victory unless you can share it with our friends and that Kaiba needs to do is discover friendship. The movie ends on a picture of the Millenium Puzzle.
