                                                   Nirvana is Your Birth Right

The seventh discourse:  27th January 1979:  Osho Commune International, Pune

Beyond the three worlds is the expanse of world of fearlessness

Like an infatuated moth who burns ego gets to shore.

Brahma is like a shining flame, and so Vishnu, and Shankar the yogi in meditation.

The man you encounter in the secret world, to whom the whole world belongs.

His splendor is indescribable, infinite; offspring of mythical swan get blissful.

Some men with wisdom will ponder, In whose hearts lies the essence of love.

Only the one who ponders the words of truth gets to the world of fearlessness.

How can I say it so you can hear, as truth can only be gotten with own understanding.

Do witness all your mysteries.  Knowing that go to the other shore.

As gold is purified through fire, so have you to put yourself through fire.

The diamond that tolerates more beating, becomes more purified and does not return.

Capture root then pure voice flows like a waterfall in the middle of the heart, says Dariya.

A philosopher's stone may cajole by words.  But it becomes obvious only with Sat Guru.

A Sat Guru is the one who moves truth.  Reminds you are mythical swan and your glory.

Every household has elaborate scripture-reading, but that does not get you to our world.

Brahman is in every particle, worship innocence of the self-divine.

Your life is wasted in arguments, the end of life made you a loser.

You have become egoist reading books, all other devices would go worthless.

Until one knows secrets of other world, six rituals will not make swan reach there.

When the essence of word brings you confidence, then Sat Guru can light a flame.

Dariya speaks of Nirvana, I say of my own, not reciting scriptures.

The whole world is engrossed with scriptures, yet you repeatedly incarnate into wombs.

Dariya speaks of nirvana.

Dariya, of course, would say, but whether or not you would hear, that is the real question.  The sun would shine, but whether or not you would open your eyes, that is the real question.  Someone may play harp, but you may just sit there like a stone deaf person.  Whether or not your heart would reverberate, that is the real question.

Sat Guru have always been appearing.  This earth has never become barren.  Sometimes a Meera danced, and sometimes a Nanak sang, sometimes a Dariya called; but how may paid heed?   Very few people paid heed.  They can be counted on fingers, that is how few who paid any heed.  We desire the worthless so much that we do not look at the worthwhile.  We are so attached to empty, hollow words that even if the truth fall upon our ears, that is not grasped.  False can even be grasped with mind, there is no problem there.  Truth must be grasped with heart, and that is where the difficulty lies.  Our hearts are but inert.  Centuries have passed.  Neither have we trodden that path nor have we removed all the rubbish collected on that path.  We have even forgotten that within us, we have some heart too.  We have been entrapped within our skulls.  And enclosed within skull you may become a scholar but will not be one with knowing.  And these words are for those who want to float in the sky of knowing.

Learning is but a prison, knowing is sky.  Learning is but chained, shackled.  They may be gold-plated, studded with diamonds and Jewels but shackles even then are shackles.  No one has ever attained to liberation with learning, nor one shall ever be.  There is no bridge between mind and liberation.  And heart is already connected with liberation.  Listen to your heart beat sometimes, come a little closer to your heart and these words will make your closed buds to blossom, will light up your unlit candle, your stone-like heart may come alive again.  You would not remain just dirt, you may become immortal.  You may not remain just crawling creatures on earth, you have the capability to soar in the sky.

Hansa (the mythical bird), may you fly to that destination.

You are the hansa, you have just settled next to ponds and water-holes.  You are living amidst dirt and mud.  You were meant to pick pearls, mansarovar (the mythical lake) belonged to you.  What mud and dirt are you lost in!  That is why you are unhappy wherever you are, since it does not suite your nature.  This is against your nature, wherever you are.  And death comes closer every day.  Are you going to waist your entire life next to these ponds and water-holes, where there is nothing but foul smell of rotten rubbish.  Won't you flutter your wings?  Won't you take the flight toward mansarovar?  Do not those crystal-clear waterfalls of Himalayas call you?  That peach, that untouched ecstasy inspire your very being?  If it were inspiring then you would hear ...

Dariya speaks of nirvana ...

Dariya would say, Dariya has always been saying it, Dariya will keep on saying even in future.  Dariya has always been appearing, Dariya will keep appearing.

'Dariya' word is very lovely, it means:  ocean.  Ocean has always been calling, however, you have remained satisfied in being a drop!  When are you going to have the longing within you to become the ocean.  And remember that days are only a few, death can arrive at any moment.  The flower that has blossomed at this moment, will wither away by the evening.  What is spring at this moment will soon become the autumn.

Now see, the autumn too has arrived

All leaves have turned yellow

Some stayed and some have fallen

Again an year has passed the blossom time too has passed,

Now see, the autumn too has arrived.

Some of rain, some of winter

Some of summer and some of spring

These days keep passing, the world too is making and breaking,

Now see, the autumn too has arrived.

Yesterday, blossom time smiled here

Black bees were trapped inside flower-buds

Conscious and unconscious met their eyes too,

Now see, the autumn too has arrived.

Now there is not that fragrance in the wind

Nor there is that red color in leaves

If there is anything left it is the garland of night's tear drops

Now see, the autumn too has arrived.

What does this sigh mean

It is not worth recounting pleasure and pain

The cry of cuckoo could not turn back the beloved

Now see, the autumn too has arrived.

What is the culmination of that void

Which encompasses blossom time

Will our love to get lost in void, some day?

Now see, the autumn too has arrived.

There is no delay.  Autumn has already started.  Leaves have begun to yellow.  This life may fall any moment.  This youth, this competition, these dreams!  Do you just have to get lost in void!  Have you accepted the grave as your goal?  If you have accepted grave as your goal and have no more longing than to accumulate wealth in this life than you would not be able to hear.  Then Dariya may bang his head against the wall - he may should a million times, you will stay nothing but deaf.

But persons like Dariya do not worry about your deafness, they keep calling.  Who knows when you might hear.  In which unknown moment you may hear by mistake.  In which unknown hour you might hear in spite of you.  You may not want to hear and yet hear it!  With this hope Dariya calls.  Dariya speaks of nirvana.

Beyond the three worlds is the expanse of world of fearlessness

The three worlds is quite psychological, this psychology is worth understanding.  You have been taught geography of the three worlds quite extensively:  patal (under-earth hell) is below earth,  heaven is above clouds and the mortal world is in the between the two.  These are just stories to appease children.  Patal is not below ground, it is America.  If you keep digging, if you start digging from where you are sitting right now, you will emerge in America.  And the people in America also think that the hell is below earth.  I they come digging, they will emerge in Pune.

And above ...!  The first space cruiser from Russia, Yuri Gagarin when the first time he returned from moon, do you know what people asked him?  The first question was, "Did you find god at the moon?"  Because there are stories that god lives on moon.  He said, "There is no god, it is totally silent.  Forget about god, there is not even a man there, no priest nor scholar is there.

As a memorial to such a significant development a museum has been erected, wherein whatever pebbles and stones Yuri Gagarin brought back have been displayed.  At the museum's gate it is transcribed, "Visited the moon also,  there is no god."

Who ever said that there is god on moon?  These are stories to appease children.  These are fairy-tales.

These are not geographic facts, they are psychological matters.

There are three possibilities for man - for an average man.  Then there is a fourth possibility also.  To rise into the fourth is dharma (innate nature).  To remain immersed in the three is samsar (market place, this world).  We have not given any name to this fourth stage, what name can you give it!  All the names that we have are for the three states, because the only experience we have is of the three.  So the fourth we have simply called 'the fourth', 'turiya.'  The meaning of turiya is 'the fourth.'  We have not given it a name, just called it the fourth, that is all.

These three states are of mind.  First is that of anguish, with which we are fully familiar.  Hell is the name for intensified anguish.  It is not under earth, it is just beneath your mind.  It is just buried in your unconscious mind.  Nightmares come from that unconscious mind.  The second state is that of pleasure.  With that too you have a little experience, a few glimpses here and there.  May be no experience, but at least the glimpses of hope, some feelings in dreams - so close to get it.  Even if you do not have experience, you can at least imagine the one that is opposite of anguish is pleasure.  If a piercing thorn gives anguish, showering flowers give pleasure.  Even if the shower never happened, you can at least imagine.  And the state which is in the middle of the two - we are familiar with that, a bland of pleasure and pain.  That is named the mortal world.  Where pleasure and pain are two aspects of the same coin, pleasure on one hand and pain at the other.  And the amount of pain generated is equal to pleasure and the amount of pleasure generated is equal to pain.

Do understand this a little.  There is profound reasoning behind this.

Have not observed that those people who generate more of pleasure, keep falling into more of pain?  There is a proportion.  Therefore, if there is maximum anguish in America, do not assume that you are in a very fine state.  The conclusion is simply this:  today there are maximum devices for pleasure therefore there is pain.  Pain and pleasure increase in proportion, they increase simultaneously, at the same time.  If the measure of pain is ten then the measure of pleasure is ten.  If the measure of pain is hundred then the measure of pleasure is hundred.  As soon as a society becomes prosperous, it becomes filled with inner poverty and anguish.  Today, the number of people who become insane in America is not matched any where else;  the ones who commit suicide is not matched any where else; the ones who search for mental peace is not matched any where else.  Some times the Indian mind is very surprised:  we are the ones who should be unhappy, the ones who do not have anything.  No food, no clothes, no roof over our heads, no medicines and no means to send children to school - the ones who have nothing, we are the ones who should be unhappy.

But you do not know the logic of life.

The ones who do not have anything, they are not too unhappy, because to be very unhappy you have to be very happy first.  The one who has known happiness, would feel unhappiness.  It is like this:  you lived in mansions and then one day you have to live in a shack.  Then you will feel the pain of having to live in a shack.  The who has always lived in a shack, he will never feel the pain of living in a shack.  The one who sleeps on pavement, does not feel any pain in sleeping on pavement.  But ask people who have kidnapped from mansions to sleep on pavement, then they will feel pain.  To experience pain one needs the background of pleasure.  And the opposite of that too is true.  Without the experience of pain one can also not experience pleasure.

Therefore, those who wish to experience pleasure create variety of pains for themselves, only then they are able to experience some pleasure.  Now a man has nothing else to do, he travels to climb mountains!  Now to climb a mountain is a painful job, life is in jeopardy, but he will climb the mountain!  To climb that mountain, where the life is in jeopardy each moment; one slip and the whole life would vanish among rocks and trenches, not even a trace of flash and bones would be found, he would be pulverized - but only because of that pain, because of the possibility of that pain, to get to the summit becomes an overwhelming pleasure.

Now, what is the pleasure of going to moon?  What is the pleasure of walking on moon?  Because to reach is very dangerous.  Bigger the challenge and danger, bigger the expectation of pleasure.  The ones who wish for bigger pleasure, are the ones who have to generate bigger pains.  It is well know experience of soldiers that at the war fronts, where the life is in great danger, great waves of pleasure arise.  Wherever the danger is every moment:  when you do not know when you may die, a great clarity comes into life, all dust and cloudiness is destroyed, life becomes much acute.

Pleasure and pain are intertwined, are two aspects of the same coin.  You can’t eliminate one of the two.  Hence, hell and heaven are simply imaginations.  We have know pain, the imagination of the epitome of the pain is named hell.  We have known pleasure, the imagination of the epitome of the pleasure is named heaven.  The idea of pleasure is:  we have totally eliminated pain in our imagination and retained nothing but pleasure.  And the idea of pain is:  we have totally eliminated pleasure in our imagination and retained nothing but pain.  Therefore, hell is for the foes and heaven is for yourself, for friends, for loved-ones.  If you are a Christian then only Christian will go to heaven, all else to hell.  If you are Moslem then bahishta (heaven) for Moslem.  Not for anyone else.  If you are Jaina or Buddhist then heaven is for you, hell is for all else.  Heaven is for ourselves, and hell is for the ones who are not with us.  This is the man's ordinary behavior of envy, jealousy, hostility.  And we have formulated three worlds out of these three.

Dariya says:  'Beyond the three worlds ...'  If you really want to seek truth then you have to go beyond mind, you have to go beyond psychology.  'Beyond the three worlds is the expanse of world of fearlessness.'  This is the fourth, where the mind becomes empty, where there is neither pain not pleasure nor the mixture of two; where the pain has subsided and pleasure too has subsided and all waves have become void, where the lake of consciousness is without any waves, where all has become quiet, where there is no noise - neither pleasant nor unpleasant - where there are neither thorns nor flowers, where there are neither 'my people' nor other people, where there is neither success nor failure, where all racing of mind subsided - where there is no mind to begin with - that state of no-mind, that state of non-mind is called the fourth state, turiya.

Patanjali calls that very state as the nirvikalpa-samdhi (unconditional super-consciousness).  As long as there is condition, the super-consciousness is not total.  As long as any experience is happening, of pleasure or pain, the super-consciousness is not total.  When no experience takes place, the mirror of your experience is totally clean, cessation of the mind's behavior, where all the behaviors of mind has ceased, that state is of yoga.  That is where you unite with divine.  In that fourth state you become divine.

Beyond the three worlds is the expanse of world of fearlessness

And there fear is destroyed, and that is why it is said as the world of fearlessness.  The one in pain is fearful, that more pain may appear.  The one in pain is afraid as to when he would get rid of pain, whether or not he ever would!  The one who is in pleasure too is afraid as to how long would the pleasure last!  The experiences of the past suggest that pleasures come and go, they do not last.  Therefore, the one with pleasure grabs hold with fear. The one with pain discards it.  But neither one is at ease.  The one with pleasure knows that the pleasure will slip, tomorrow if not today.  So, let me stronghold it, suck it.  But stronger you hold it, sooner it slips.

Pleasure is like mercury.  You make a fist and it scatters.  And then you try to gather it from all over the floor, and won't be able to.  And people's lives are expended in gathering the scattered mercury.  And more you discard pain, more it would attach.  More you escape pain, more it would chase you like a shadow.  This is our normal state.  In both situation fear persists.  A man in pain is, of course, fearful:  I got so much of it, O god! what is to happen next!

I have heard, a politician from Delhi died. Before dying ... he was an important politician, so he had far reaching connections ... before dying he was lying with eyes close.  Angels arrived and told him that the death was near.  The politician said, "Please do me a favor, where do I have to go.  Before going I wish to visit both heaven and hell so that I may make a choice."  He was an important politician, must at the least have a right to choice!  The angels said, "OK."  Bribes are common place even there.  These very people from here become angels over there.  The addictions from here transfer there.  over The politician offered the bribe, so the angels said, "OK, we will let you have a glimpse."

First they took him to heaven.  The heaven seemed a bit dull!  Kind of lazy!  Must be, if your sadhus and saints go to heaven then it has to be dull!  Neither harp would sound nor flute.  Those sadhus and saints are sitting under their own trees!  Dust must have gathered, as they are sitting there for centuries, for eternity.  And sadhus and saints do not take bath or wash - why to decorate body!  The saints who have arrive do not brush teeth etc.  Jaina munis do not brush their teeth.  Why to brush teeth!  These are the things people in market place do.  If Jaina people become in-charge of film making then what to speak of kissing scenes, even the tooth-brushing would stop.  Because a man brushes his teeth etc. so that when he kisses or embraces someone, it may not smell.  That is why in the west, where kissing is common place,  sprays are available to make mouth smell good ... they are sitting covered with ash.  It did not suit the politician.  It reminded him of the fair of Kumbh, all kinds of circus, arenas!  He said, "My friend, now show me hell."

When he saw hell, he was amazed.  Could not believe it.  The waiting room where he was escorted was air-conditioned; melodious music was playing, beautiful cabaret dance was going on.  It suited the politician!  After all he was a politician from Delhi.  I seemed just like 'Ashoka Hotel.'  It even surpasses 'Ashoka.'  And the Satan adorned him with flower-garlands made of real flowers, not made with khadi (coarse, hand woven cotton cloth.)  Real flowers!  And such fragrance that the politician had never known before.  "Would you take tea, coffee or coca-cola?"  He said, "You can find even coca-cola here!  It has become so difficult in Delhi."  And that too was properly cooled in fridge!  He was much pleased.  He said to the angels, "This is where I want to come, bring me here after I die."

After six hours he died.  The angels escorted him to hell.  As he opened his eyes he was really shocked.  Fearsome fires were lighting, large woks were put on top of that, oil was boiling!  People were being tossed into the oil, some were being allowed to rot, some were being whipped!  The  politician said, "Sir, what is the matter, has there been some mistake?  Just a while back, six hours back I came here ... !  Satan burst out laughing.  He said, "That is our welcome center.  It is for those who come here just as spectators.  Now this is the real hell!  That was just for tourists.  One has to make arrangement for tourists everywhere, special arrangement has to be made.  Only the best of the items are displayed.  Now do enjoy the real thing!

I have heard about yet another politician.  He died and was taken directly to hell.  Where else can a politician go!  If a politician can go somewhere else, then from the rest of the population who will go to hell!  He was taken straight to hell.  But he was a politician from way back when, was a well-known politician, had a lot of fame - his pictures used to appear even in the newspapers of hell- so, Satan said, "You are a big man, you are arrived, you are very famous the world over.  So I can do this much for you that you yourself choose.  There are many sections in hell wherever you want to stay."

Politician was much relieved at this, at least he had the convenience of choosing.

One place he went to, people were being fried in woks, at another people were being whipped violently!  At yet another place large boulders were being placed on top of peoples' chests and demons were jumping up and down on top of them.  Thus from place to place ... the politician started to fret for to choose any one of them was to get into real trouble.  They all were troublesome, one greater than the other!  When he got to this one place, the politician liked it a little better.  People are standing - although the situation is not too good, they are all standing in knee deep feces and urine - but they are sipping tea.  He thought, at least this is better!  As far as the feces and urine, that will have to do.  And that is a habit acquired through life, he as lived in feces and urine.  What else is politics, except feces and urine?  So, what to speak of knee deep, he has dived into it neck deep.  This is OK, this will do, they are sipping tea and also gossiping - this he liked.  He said, "This is the place I choose.  A cup of hot tea was handed to him which he started to sip while standing in knee deep feces and urine.  And all of a sudden a buzzer sounded a loud speaker sounded, "Stop, everyone get into head-stand pose."

These things do not last for long.  Beware even when you get tea in hell as they might make you head-stand soon enough.  Now to do head-stand in knee deep feces and urine.

Hell is our imagination of anguish.  We have projected onto hell whatever pain a man can think.  But remember, whatever pain a man can think can happen, that is already happening.  People are standing in feces and urine already.  Tea drinking is happening in feces and urine.  And head-stand is being done in feces and urine.  You look at your life closely, what fragrance are you experiencing?  And what little pleasures you achieve in your life are quite somber.  Also, those pleasures have not much of an intensity, not much of color.  Those too are not with light.  They too are covered with much dust.  They too are repetitious.  Of course, once in a while a moment comes when it feels good, but such moments have come many times.  Those moments are not new.  Those moments are familiar also.  They have no exuberance with them also.  They have no ecstasy nor celebration as such.

But man oscillates between the two - pleasure and pain.  When pleasure happens then he is afraid that the pain may not appear, "let me hold on to pleasure," - although nothing special happens in pleasure - but it is better.  At least it is better, at least there is no pain.

A wealthy man was dying.  He called his son and said, "I want to tell you something.  I want to tell you something special.  Son, wealth does not bring pleasure.  After accumulating wealth for the entire life I experienced - wealth does not bring pleasure.  The son said, "Whatever happens, but do will me the wealth."  The father said, "Why, have you not understood what I just said?"  The son said, "I understood you perfectly that wealth does not bring pleasure.  But the wealth has a convenience - a man can choose pain.  Whatever pain he chooses, he takes.   Without wealth there is no freedom even to choose pain.  Consider that too.  With wealth if a man wishes to get pain in mansion, he can have it in mansion, if he wishes to get pain by going to Himalaya, he can get pain on Himalaya; if he wishes to get pain in Switzerland, he can do it in Switzerland; if he wishes to get pain with this woman, he gets it from this one; if he wishes to get pain with that woman, he gets it from that one.  Wealth has this one convenience, at the least a man can choose his pain with his whim.  But if he has no wealth, he does not even have choice of pain left up to him.

So the son said, "You are absolutely right, dad! that wealth does not bring pleasure.  But may I remind you of on thing - with wealth a man can choose his pain with his whim.

Perhaps, that is the only difference between a wealthy man and a poor man.  The poor has no freedom to choose pain.  The rich has a freedom to choose pain.  But freedom is only of choosing pain.  Is this really a big difference?  Is this really a big distinction?  And usually what happens is that the old tried pains become agreeable to our minds.  A man can become much unhappy by choosing new pains every day, since their pain is unfamiliar, their burning heat is new, their thorns pinch at new spots.

Dariya says:  but both are states of fear.  Where is the fearlessness?  The fearlessness is at that place where there is neither desire for pain nor for pleasure.  Where a man has this insight that not only pain is futile, pleasure too is futile.  And if you can’t see both the things simultaneously, revolution in your life would not happen.  If you feel that pain is futile but pleasure is not, then in an attempt to save pleasure, pain too would be saved.  The are both together, they can’t be separated.  There is no trick to segregate them, no sword can slice them into two.  They are two different perspectives of looking at the same thing, to different ways of saying the same thing.

Imagine that you have five million rupees and tomorrow you gain ten million.  Will you be happy or unhappy?  You will be very happy.  And the man who has fifteen million rupees today and tomorrow he is only left with ten million, what would be his condition?  He would become very unhappy.  Both have ten million rupees.  One had five and it became ten, and the other had fifteen and that too became ten.  If there were pleasure in ten million rupees then both should have had it; if there were pain in ten million then both should have had it.  But one is happy because he had five million and one is unhappy because he had fifteen.  So, ten million has no pleasure or pain, it depends on your point of view.  It depends on your expectation.

Therefore, pleasure-pain can’t be separated.

A man came to his home and saw his best friend in a situation that he could not believe.  He was embracing his wife.  The friend was a little worried as to what explanation he would offer?  But the man said, 'Do not worry.  Please come to the next room."  Once in the next room he said, "I have to embrace her.  Foolish man, why are you embracing her?  Mine is a compulsion, I happen to marry her, so I have to embrace her.  But, foolish man, what has happened with you?  What is bothering you that you are embracing her?"

What is pleasure for one can become pain for some one else.  An incidence which is a pleasure today, can become pain tomorrow.  The wife, for whom you are crazy about today, you may become crazy about getting away from her, tomorrow.  The one for whom you could have died today, you may kill the same person tomorrow.  The one who was friend today,  may become a foe tomorrow.  The one who is foe today, may become a friend tomorrow.

Pleasure and pain are not separate - they are point of views, they are perspecctives.  And the one who transcends all the perspectives, becomes a seer.  The one who has no partiality; the one who neither says I like this nor says I like that; who neither says I have to renounce this not says I have to renounce that; the one who is neither indulgent nor renunciant.  An indulgent is the one who holds on to pleasures and the ones whom you call renunciant is the one who holds on to pain.  A seer does neither.  Your indulgent are ignorant and your renunciant are ignorant.  A seer is one who neither holds on nor renounces.  He witnesses what comes and he witnesses what goes.  A seer is simply a witness.  Just a watcher.  If a thorn pricks then he witnesses the thorn and if a flower descends then he witnesses the flower.  He neither yearns for flower nor does he wishes that thorn should not have pricked him.  In that state of conscious peace a transcendence happens and the person goes beyond fear.

Beyond the three worlds is the expanse of world of fearlessness

Like an infatuated moth who burns ego gets to shore.

But only those who are like moth can reach there, who are ready to jump into fire of truth.  Like an infatuated moth who burns ego the one who is ready to burn one's ego to ashes, the one who is ready to evaporate one's mind, only they - gets to shore -only those get to that incredible shore.  Their boat gets to that shore where there is neither pleasure nor pain.  Pleasure the heaven, pain the hell; and what is beyond both is called moksha, the ultimate liberation.  That is called nirvana.  Dariya speaks of nirvana.

Brahma is like a shining flame, and so Vishnu, and Shankar the yogi in meditation.

Brahma is like a shining flame, Vishnu, Shankar are like shining flame.  And you too would become like shining flame once you attain to yoga, union; once you attain to meditation.  Meditation means you drop identifying - all the things that happen around you but are not 'you.'  It is like someone passes before a mirror - a beautiful woman female and the mirror says, "Wow, how beautiful am I!"  This is identifying.  An ugly male passes by and the mirror closed up and became distressed in mind and felt much depressed, "How ugly am I!"  This is identifying.  But whether a beautiful female or an ugly male passes by and the mirror just kept watching quietly, kept reflecting, whosoever passed by it kept reflecting him and kept knowing that I am but a mirror, just a mirror, whosoever comes before me, I become his image - that is sakshi, witnessing, that is meditation.

When pain happened, you became painful - you missed meditation.  When pleasure happened and you became pleased - you missed meditation.  When pain comes, let it come, let it go.  When pleasure comes, let it come, let it go.  You just be a mirror.  You just witness.  All you say is:  "It is pain now, it is pleasure now, it is morning now, it is evening now.  There was light a while back and now it has become dark.  It was spring a while back and now the autumn has arrived.  There was life a while back and now death has arrived.  You just keep watching and whatsoever you see, do not become identified with it, do not become one with it.  That is all, that is all the art there is of meditation.

And the one who attained to meditation, attained to yoga, the union.  Because he who broke bondage with things happening around him, his connection is bridged with the ultimate divinity that is hiding within him.  You can only be connected with one of the two, either with the market place which is all around you or with divine that is within you.

Brahma is like a shining flame, and so Vishnu, and Shankar the yogi in meditation.

The man you encounter in the secret world, to whom the whole world belongs.

And if you drop all your identifying, then the secret world that you have within you, the world of mystery that you have, the cave of your interior within your heart, where no one but you can enter - that is why it is known as secret world - only you can go there, you can’t take any one else.  You can’t even invite your nearest friend and say, "do come within me."  You can’t even take your beloved with you.  Not to speak of your beloved or friend, you can’t even take your mind there, you can’t even your body, you can’t even take a particle of thought.  You can’t take anything there.  Everything has to be discarded outside.  You have to be totally without burden ... chittavrittinirodh ... when all instincts of mind have been dropped outside, in that state of purity, in that state of sannyas you may enter within you.  And all alone, only you can enter.  That is what Dariya calls the secret world, the hidden world.

The man you encounter in the secret world, to whom the whole world belongs.

And there you will find the one to whom the whole universe belong, the whole expanse.  There you will find the master of masters.  And the one who found that has found all.  The one who has known him has known everything that is worth knowing.

His splendor is indescribable, infinite ...

His splendor is indescribable, infinite ...

His splendor is indescribable, infinite; offspring of mythical swan get blissful.

Some men with wisdom will ponder, In whose hearts lies the essence of love.

His splendor can’t be described, it is infinite ...  You won't be able to say.  You will become mute.  You won't be able to speak, you will become speechless.  You will suddenly taken aback.  What you will see is so vast that you will be lost in it.  It is as if a small candle light encounters the sun, as if a small drop of water merges into the ocean.!

His splendor is indescribable, infinite; offspring of mythical swan get blissful.

But only those would be able to attain to it who have recollected being the mythical swan, "we are the offspring of mythical swan."

You are the offspring of Buddhas:  Mahaveera, Mohammed, Zarthustra, Lao Tse, Buddha, Kabeer, Nanak, Dariya, Farid; you are their offspring.  You are the offspring of paramhansas, the supreme swans.  But, no one knows what delusion has made you settle around small, pitiful ponds and water holes, have sat next to dirty laguna and water pools.  And have constructed home right there!  You have established a family right there!

The one who has established next to a dirty laguna or water pool is a grihastha, house holder.  And the ones who have totally lost the memory of their world that lies hidden amidst the sky high peaks amidst far away Himalaya; their mansarovar, the mythical lake; the ones who have totally lost the memory of the fact that they used to pick pearls and now are dependant on pebbles and stones:  to remind them the awakened ones call, saying:  "Hansas, awaken.  Hansas, do fly away to that nation!"

The entire activities of Buddhas, the entire teachings of Buddhas can be confined to one little formula, "Hansas, do fly away to that nation."  You have to be reminded of your nation.  You are in a foreign country, you have forgotten your own nation.

His splendor is indescribable, infinite; offspring of mythical swan get blissful.

But the ones who would listen to Dariya's sayings and the ones who would recall just a little, "Gee, who am I!" would have much bliss.  Offspring of mythical swan get blissful.  These words would act like elixir to their ears the moment they fall into them.  Offspring of mythical swan get blissful!  A revolution within can happen in a moment.  The ones who have heard, have experienced revolution in a moment.

I have heard, an emperor became angry at his son.  He ordered him exiled.  After ordering the exile he regretted much but being stubborn thought that one of these days the son would come back and ask for forgiveness, and he would forgive him.  After all, how long would he wander around?  He will return.  But like father like son.  He too was stubborn, he too would not come back.  Ten years had elapsed.  The father started to grow old.  He was the only son.  He was the rightful owner of the entire kingdom.  He really started to regret.  He sent his ministers to find him, his whereabouts.  This was a prince, he did not know anything else.  He had neither worked as a labor not had he learnt any vocation.  The servants used to tend to all his needs.  So, if ever a kings son deviates from his kingdom, he has no other alternative but to become a beggar.  Therefore, he had become a beggar.  He used to beg for alms.  Slowly and gradually he totally lost the memory that he was a prince.

It is also not right to keep the memory.  Because if he maintains the memory, then he maintains the pain, the wound would never heal!  The wound has to heal; after all, the man has to survive!  And he has to beg for alms.  He goes around begging for alms in an aluminum bowl.  He whines for two or four pennies.   If he keeps the memory of being an emperor's son, then it would become a big problem.  And when he would be scolded and told to go away, or told not that day -to come back next day, or there is no food in the house, or there is no one in the house to give - if he were a son of the emperor, he might just draw a sword.  If he were a son of an emperor, he may grab hold of this man's neck.  This would become dangerous.  How long can he remember as being a prince if he has to beg to couple of pennies.  Yes, it is possible for a month or two, for a few days about his being a prince.  Then if there is no parallel between the memory and the reality, the memory began to fade.  In ten years time, this fact was totally forgotten.  Even in dreams he would not recall it.  He had become a beggar, a real beggar.

He was begging for alms in front of a hotel where some people were gambling, sipping tea or smoking cigarettes.  He was saying, "My feet are scalding, sun is very hot, the summer has come, I have no shoes.  Please give me some money, I can buy shoes."  He had some change in his begging bowl, which he was rattling.  He was whining before people.  Just at that moment a golden chariot with ministers arrived and halted in front of the hotel.  The instant the golden chariot halts, the ten years vanished in one ... one instant.  Halting of the golden chariot, seeing the minister and minister's getting down from the chariot and falling in beggar's feet and said, "Your majesty, come back.  Your father has remembered you, he has grown old.  The whole kingdom belongs to you.  What are you doing here?"

A revolution happened in single moment.  The begging bowl that he had in hand with some change in it, he tossed that on side.  He was just whining for every penny!  Those who were not willing to give him a penny ... all those activities of the hotel came to stand still; gambling came to a stop; hotel's owner, manager, all the other people came running and crowded around saying, "Your majesty, please think about us, forget us not!"

The prince said, "First of all, arrange for my bath, for beautiful clothing.  Then I return."  Ten years were erased in a single moment as if they were never there!  And people noticed that within one moment that his eyes were different - the beggar had some different eyes and the emperor had some different eyes!  The clothes were still that of a beggar but a flame, a shine started to appear out of them.  His gait transformed!  The way he stood transformed!  When he mounted the throne he was entirely a different man.  No one could have even imagined that he had been begging alms for ten years.

If Dariya's words are heard then such happening can take place within you too - it should.

Offspring of mythical swan get blissful.  Some men with wisdom will ponder ... A few among you who are conscious only would understand, only they would be able to ponder.  "In whose hearts lies the essence of love", only in your heart lies that essence, of love - that ultimately unveils divine.  The ray of love is only within you that unites you with the sun of divine.  Hear! take it to heart!  Dariya speaks of nirvana.

Only the one who ponders the words of truth gets to the world of fearlessness.

The moment you ponder, the doors of the world of fearlessness are opened.  As soon as this impact happens, an ultimate revolution happens.  An adoration to divine need not be done, we have just forgotten, we just have to remember.  That is why all the saints have spoken of name-awareness.  There is great mystery hidden in name-awareness.  All it means is that you need not do anything, just remember, just recall.  You need not change yourself.  You are just the same.

Did this son of emperor had to change himself.  He was, of course, the son of emperor, he had just forgotten, had slipped off his memory.

And slipping off the memory happens, it happens quite easily.  Because all around you have people with lost memory.  You are connected with all of them.  Rarely is the good fortune of satsang.  Once in a while some lucky person gets to do satsang.  Otherwise the crowd belongs to the same people - people like yourselves.

I have heard, a swan was going, flying with his female.  At night he got tired, and perched on a tree.  A crow lost his heart to the female swan.  Naturally.  The crow must have thought, where are you taking Hema Malini for a flight, son!  Now there is no escape!  Only crows inhabited that tree.  He also told other crows that now we should not let him escape like this!  What a lovely thing is he taking, and where!

In the morning, when the swan started to take the flight, the crow said, "Wait a minute friend."  That crow, which was the leader of the crows, said, "Where are you taking my wife?"  The swan said, "Your wife!  Talk some sense!  She is a female swan, you are a crow."  The crow said, "You talk sense.  Does a black man not have a white woman?  This color discrimination will not do.  This race discrimination will not do.  What ancient custom are you talking about?  Are you talking of the times of king Manu?  I agree that she is white but wife she is mine.  If you do not believe then let us call the panel of arbitrators."

Now the swan was frightened a little, because arbitrators!  The were all crows, there was no swan in sight.  Arbitrators may decide anything.  The arbitrators of the crows assembled.  And the panel of arbitrators of the crows gave the verdict that the wife belonged to the crow.  The swan is crying buckets of tears, but what can he do?  The crowd belongs to crows.

You too are surrounded by the crowd of crows.  All their schemes are to make you forget.  They themselves have forgotten, and they are making you forget also.  You have to awaken from crowd.  And the one who awakens from crowd is a sannyasin.  And crowd has many hypnotic trances.  And crowd has much strength.  Crowd may not make you but it can eradicate you.  That is the only strength it has.

Crowd catches hold of every child from his very childhood and engages in making a crow out of him.  Plaster him, white wash him, give him ideology - some Hindu crow, some Moslem, some Christian, some Jaina, some Buddhist - make every one a different kind of crow.  Who would remind you that you are swan?  And there is so much of color painted on you, so much of black painted put on you that even if you wander before a mirror, you would think, "I am but a crow, these are not the ways of swan!"

I too say unto you that this black paint is false.  Just take a bath in meditation, it will wash away.  The swan within you will shine forth.

Only the one who ponders the words of truth gets to the world of fearlessness.

You will have to ponder.  You will have to ponder over the words of awakened ones.  And keep in mind that there are only a few awakened ones while the ones in slumber are many more.  And truth is not really determined by democracy.  Truth is not really determined by ballot.  If they were determined by ballot somehow, then Buddha, Mahaveera, Krishna, Christ would have lost long time ago.  Crowd of crows would have kidnapped all females of swans.

Truth is not determined by ballot.  Truth does not depend on some one's ballot or crowd.  Truth is truth, one may say it or many may say it, it does not make a difference.  And most of the time only one would say it.  Many can’t say.  Because only once in a while some one attains to meditation contrary to many, liberating from many.  Only once in a while some one makes a journey to Mansarovar.  And the ones who have made the journey, do not debate on their sayings, ponder over them.

Do understand the difference between debating and pondering.

Debating means you have already chosen your sides.  You think according to them.  Pondering means to listen without choosing sides, to think without taking sides.  Pondering means to be open, considering the possibility that perhaps Dariya speaks the truth.

Listen to Dariya with your full awareness.

Only the one who ponders the words of truth gets to the world of fearlessness.

How can I say it so you can hear, as truth can only be gotten with own understanding.

And, "It is very difficult to say," says Dariya, "although I am saying it," Dariya speaks of nirvana, "but the difficulty is immense, because that experience can’t be confined to words.  How can I say it so you can hear, How can I to say it?  How to caution you?  How to awaken a sleeping person?  How can I make a deaf hear?  How can I make a blind see?  Truth is such a thing that only if you know it, an introduction happens.

So, if some one thinks that when Sat Guru explains to me properly, explains to me completely then I should travel with him - then the journey is done and over with?!  Then the journey will not be possible.  If someone makes a condition of fully understanding Sat Guru beforehand, then this condition can’t simply be fulfilled.

Then how do you make journey with Sat Guru?

You have to be crazy, you have to be like moth.  Now a moth does not ask the flame to prove that it is flame.  "You first prove that if I cremate myself in you then I would be reincarnated.  Prove to me why I should come to you, what have you got to give me, all I see is death, I do not experience any elixir.

Sat Guru is like a flame.  When a disciple comes to him, he comes with some magnetic pull.  It is not just a matter of thinking and pondering.  Beyond thinking and pondering some thing captures his heart and churns it.  As some one falls in love, similarly if you fall in love with Sat Guru then only the journey possible.  To make connection with Sat Guru is a thing only for a few courageous mad people, a thing for intoxicated people.

In every tissue have I concealed the secret of my love, my friend!

This ailment is not something my pulse will tell.

The ailments that can be diagnosed by taking pulse; love is not that kind of an ailment.  What can be treated with medicines; love is not that kind of an ailment.  Its treatment is only super-consciousness, not medicine.  This ailment is very much internal.  And the ailment is not really an ailment, it is good luck.  Fortunate are the ones whose love relation is bridged with some Sat Guru, who drop everything to be with him; because divine belongs only to them and the kingdom of god belongs only to them.

Do witness all your mysteries.  Knowing that go to the other shore.

What do you have to do sitting by Sat Guru?  Witnessing.  Sitting, watching Sat Guru - how he gets up, how he sits down, how speaks, how does not speak?  To peek in his eyes.  To hold his hand.  To put your head in his feet.  To imbibe his wind.  Yes, to inhale his wind.  Because in his winds are some fragrant pollens, which would pulsate your heart through the medium of your breaths.

That is the meaning of satsang.

Do witness all your mysteries.  Gaze in abundance, imbibe in abundance!.  Knowing that go to the other shore.  And then one day this understanding will happen to you that this man has journeyed to other shore, we are on this shore.  And the day this understanding happens that this man has journeyed to other shore and we are on this shore - at that very moment a jump happens.  At that very moment happens.

First a man comes as a student - full of curiosity.  Then he becomes a disciple, curiosity has subsided, now a yearning has awakened.  Now there is no taste for words, now there is taste in the wordless presence of master.  And then he becomes devotee.  He takes a jump.  He begins his journey seeking unknown shore of that unknown ocean.  There is no boat nor peddle - only a faith, a trust.  But then trust is the boat, trust is the peddle.

The darkness of mind will not parish with candle light.

Raise high the earth, lower down the sky.

Celebration of lights has come and gone many times.

Yet the darkness stays where it has always been.

Flame has gone on and off many times.

Yet every flower garden is enclosed in the casket of night.

So the sun may not become cross, dream may not interrupt.

Awaken the dawn, put night to sleep.

The darkness of mind will not parish with candle light.

Raise high the earth, lower down the sky.

For creativity and peace it is essential that

Light serenade melody at every door.

The sacrifice for liberation would only succeed,

When love wins over the sword.

Hatred is on the rise, darkness in night is up.

Revive the human, eradicate the demon.

The darkness of mind will not parish with candle light.

Raise high the earth, lower down the sky.

Mighty quick are the wings of light,

It stays not enclosed in any one's edifice.

The one who deceived and forced it to encase,

Oneself blew away in the wind in smoke.

Neither mine nor yours is this moment.

Invite this person 'n invite that person.

The darkness of mind will not parish with candle light.

Raise high the earth, lower down the sky.

Alas! you wish to have the entire brightness

Become slave to you for ever.

Don't you know how in house of straw,

A burning spark calls forth the morn!

May never the fire play with it.

So, do make crying tears smile.

The darkness of mind will not parish with candle light.

Raise high the earth, lower down the sky.

A tremendous, great undertaking has to be done!

The darkness of mind will not parish with candle light.

Raise high the earth, lower down the sky.

Such a mighty undertaking is to be done as if some one raises the earth and lowers down the sky!  This is not some darkness that can be eradicated with a small, little sun.  These festivals of light of the outside will be of no use.  But man is very dishonest.  To dodge the festivals of light within he celebrates the festivals on the outside.

Jaina scriptures say that the festival of light came into being at the supreme attainment of Mahaveera.  On the new moon of Deepavali Mahaveera attained to supreme knowing, to supreme awareness, to super-consciousness.  A candle lit up within, a bright sun arose.  Age old darkness withered away, night disappeared, dawn arrived.  But what did we do?  We ignited clay lamps outside - in celebration.  If you have any affinity to Mahaveera in reality, then ignite lamp within, what can happen with the celebration outside?  Mahaveera had not ignited some lamp outside!  In the morning, after the new moon of Deepavali passes, nirvana-sweets are offered in Jaina temples.  Nirvana-sweets!  Sweets of nirvana!  Because Mahaveera attained to nirvana, let us distribute sweets!  Mahaveera tasted the elixir within and you are becoming contented by distributing sweets!  And you are labeling them as 'nirvana-sweets.'  Have a little shame!  Feel a little embarrassment!  Be a little ashamed!  A sun arose within Mahaveera and you ignited the clay lamps outside!  Mahaveera tasted the sweetness of elixir within and you are distributing nirvana-sweets!  How long will you keep deceiving yourself!  Na!

The darkness of mind will not parish with candle light.

Raise high the earth, lower down the sky.

Some mighty undertaking has to be done.  What is the greatest undertaking in this world?  What is bigger than raising the earth high and lowering the sky down?  To efface oneself.  Let the I'ness go.  That is the only partition.  That is the only screen.  That is the only wall.  Topple it and there is infinite light.  Light is your nature.

Do witness all your mysteries.  Knowing that go to the other shore.

As gold is purified through fire, so have you to put yourself through fire.

And as gold when put into fire becomes purified, becomes pure gold, becomes refined.  Similarly, learn to put yourself through fire.

As gold is purified through fire, so have you to put yourself through fire.

Similarly, you will have to burn yourself.  Do be moth.

But we are so cunning, we have constructed pseudo temples, constructed pseudo mosques - we even go there and bang our heads, bring back ego with us, however.  We even do worship, we even say prayer, we even perform namaaz (Islamic prayer), and no one bows within - not even a little.

I used to travel through Rajasthan.  The train used to wait at the railway station for quite a while.  Evening time, and Ajmer and many Moslem travelers would be there.  They would quickly spread their prayer-carpet on the platform and get busy with their namaaz, the evening prayer.  I used to wander around and watch.  I became fascinated!  They would do their prayer and turn around to look and make sure the train has not departed.  There was a gentleman in my compartment, with whom I had visited a little.  We were traveling together for some ten to twelve hours.  He too was doing his prayer on his prayer-carpet.  Again and again he would turn back and look.  I stood behind him and turned his head forward.  He did not say anything at the time although he became very cross ... started fuming that during namaaz, some one with his head ... !  He hurriedly completed his namaaz and said, "What kind of a man are you?  Why did you forced my head forward?  You did it so forcefully that even now I have pain in my neck!  And should you do such a thing during namaaz?"

I said, "Was it wrong what you were doing during namaaz or was it wrong what I did?  What were you looking in back again and again?  Were you performing your namaaz or were you minding the train!  Both can’t be done together.  If you are afraid the train would depart then why are you performing namaaz!  And if you have immersed yourself in namaaz then a thousand trains may depart, what can they take away!  But what kind of namaaz is this!"

I said to that gentleman, "Akbar has settled down to do his namaaz in a jungle - having lost his way while returning from his hunting trip.  He can’t find his way, it is evening time and he is performing his namaaz.  And a woman - an immature young thing - came running and ran into him, so much so that he fell down, and she kept running.  Akbar was very angry.  For one thing he was the emperor and secondly he was performing his namaaz!  When the woman returned, Akbar said to her, 'Listen you ill-mannered woman!  Do you not know that I am the emperor?  And forget about being emperor, how can you misbehave like this with any one who is engrossed in his prayer, doing his namaaz?  You pushed me so violently that I rolled over!  What do you have to say?'

That woman said, 'Forgive me!  But I do not remember that you were in the way and also rolled over!  You must have rolled over, you are right ... you must be right but I do not remember.  My beloved was arriving, I was going to meet him.  I only ask you one question.  Because of my beloved you were invisible to me, and you were on your way to meet your beloved and you were able to experience my impact!.  What kind of namaaz is it!  I have but an ordinary beloved for whom I was rushing like insane because he is coming back after an year from city.  I want to welcome him at the edge of the road.  So, I do not remember a thing, I was unconscious.  I do not know when you came, when you came in my way, when the impact took place.  Forgive me!  But this I would remind you as to how you went to meet your supreme lover that you had impact with me and you remembered that!'

Akbar has dictated in his memoirs that I never forgot that woman's conversation.  My namaaz was false."

You are on your way to meet your beloved, why then worry about memory!  But who has gone to see beloved?  Our festivals of light are false, our nirvana-sweets are false,, our temples and mosques - worships and undertakings are false.  We have done arrangements all on the surface.  It will not do so cheap.  One has to pay by eradicating oneself.

The diamond that tolerates more beating, becomes more purified and does not return.

The diamond that tolerates much shaving and strikes ... The diamond that tolerates more beating... the one which is struck very heavily ...  becomes more purified and does not return ...

that becomes pure diamond.  Then it does not have to return.

Eradicate yourself, because only by eradicating you will be able to be.  This market place is the fire, be on fire.  This market place is strikes of hammer, tolerate them.  This market place is a test, if you pass through it then you will not have to come back; then you will become dissolved in that master.

Capture root then pure voice flows like a waterfall in the middle of the heart, says Dariya.

If you have that much courage then the root will be at hand.  Capture root then pure voice flows, And then a spring will flow from within you of pure voice!

You become the Vedas, you become the Koran.  The verses of Koran will rise from your interiority!  And the verses of Vedas will rise from your interiority!  Capture root then pure voice flows, and the one who has assimilated root within, would have leaves blooming within and flowers blossoming.  An unprecedented phenomenon would be born within him.  There would be whisper of truth in his every word.

Capture root then pure voice flows like a waterfall in the middle of the heart, says Dariya.

And the one who has experienced within would not have to search an idol in a temple.  He neither goes to Kashi nor to Kaba.  flows like a waterfall in the middle of the heart, says Dariya.  He has just remembered within.  A candle of remembrance has lit within him, the surti awakened.

Surti is a lovely word.  It was born with Buddha and completed its cycle with Nanak.  The word that Buddha used was 'sammasati.'  In Sanskrit its form is samyak smriti (right memory.)  Later, after continuous use, after formation-changes sammasati became surti.  Surti means remembrance, remembrance of divine.

flows like a waterfall in the middle of the heart, says Dariya.

When you eradicate yourself, an incessant soundless sound would rise.  Upnishads would reverberate within you.

What significance the moth had, it got destroyed.

But I observed that the flame did not remain the same either.

And when you eradicate yourself, do not think that the divinity remains silent.

What significance the moth had, it got destroyed.

It was okay, it was only a moth, what strength did it have!  It was just a drop that got lost in the ocean.  But when a moth ignites at a flame, the flame also flutters, the flame agitates.

What significance the moth had, it got destroyed.

But I observed that the flame did not remain the same either.

So the flame also wavers, does its dance.  And when the dance of flame happens within you then the flute of Krishna plays, Meera dances with bells around her ankles, Buddha speaks, Upnishads are authored, Koran echoes, Bible is born.  These are all separate ways in which that flame showers over the world in the memory of some moth.  One moth eradicates, a drizzle descends upon countless people.

A philosopher's stone may cajole by words.  But it becomes obvious only with Sat Guru.

Whatever a philosopher's stone touches becomes gold.  This is not just a matter of saying and hearing.  You may say a million times but iron would just not become gold.  And a philosopher's stone may explain all it can, 'if you touch me you will become gold," even then iron will not become gold.  Iron will have to come closer to the touchstone.  This 'coming closer' is called the discipleship.

A philosopher's stone may cajole by words.  But it becomes obvious only with Sat Guru.

And until Sat Guru is found, it does not become visible.  You have eyes, you have light.  But you do not know the way to combine eyes and light.

An acquaintance for just a moment

Provided incentive to live in the world.

There was path and travelers even before,

But no love for the path,

Without you there was no infatuation

Nor attachment for this life.

The moment I met you, I found without knowing

That I became aware of unions and separations.

'Shall I live or die for some one?'

I found dignity and pride.

Suddenly in my heart broke loose

The rivers that were blocked before.

And so many other things,

For which language has no words.

Yearning to receive became

A blessing to give in.

Provided incentive to live in the world.

A candle and flame can be found in every man

But not the wick of love.

Gold can be found very easily but

Difficult to find companion on path.

The one who gives strength

To scale from beginning to end every step.

The fright of thorns, attachment to flowers

Withers away in whose shadow.

Without you, the poor clay

Would not attain to its glory.

The significance would not be proved

Of life and death, of constant change.

The first taste of path gave me yearning

To efface myself in the path.

An acquaintance for just a moment

If you have introduction with Sat Guru then the Sat Guru becomes the bridge.  Sat Guru is the bridge between you and you.  He unites you with you.  You are outside and also inside, but the synchronicity between your outside and your inside has severed.  He puts in place that synchronicity.

A Sat Guru is the one who moves truth.  Reminds you are mythical swan and your glory.

Only that person is Sat Guru who can activate the yearning of truth within you, who awaken thirst to attain truth within you, who becomes such a yearning within you, such a whirlwind that you may not remain the same as before.  Reminds you are mythical swan and your glory.  He will remind you of the swan-lake, that you are the mythical bird and that to pick pearls and why are you living in trash!  He can introduce to you your glory.

Seek.  Seek Sat Guru - the one who activates truth within you, who brings back to life your flame that is about to die, who can fill your very life with endless yearning, who says to you that the earth is not your home - it is foreign territory, that we have to find our country, that without seeking one's country neither one is satisfied nor one ever becomes blissful.

Every household has elaborate scripture-reading, but that does not get you to our world.

As such scripture reading is going on ... tale of satyanarayana is read in every household!  Every household has elaborate scripture-reading, but that does not get you to our world.  Dariya says, 'Keep in mind, all these scripture-reading that go on in every house - reading of Ramayana and reading of tale of satyanarayana - listening to all these you will not attain to our world.  You will only attain to our world when you meet some man who has attained to our world.  These priests and scholars whom you buy for couple of clams, these priests and scholars who are your hired hands, these priests and scholars who are fulfilling your expectations, these priests and scholars who have impressed upon you of being religious without any basis - these won't do.

Eyes have told the untold tale,

Breath have sobbed and tolerated the loneliness.

I talked about you for the whole life, but

Only so much, the tale was half untold.

Keep hearing these tales, but this will remain half untold, this will not complete the tale.

The flowers of love in our orchard, if they did not sprout, they did not blossom.

The birds of contentment on our branch, if they did not swing, they did not swing.

The stars in the dark of the night did not wipe our damp eyes.

But, even then, the smile of sunbeam we did not forget, did not forget.

Meet some such man whose smile appear as the smile of divine, in whose eyes you may capture a little reflection of divinity.

A smile of sunbeam may get hold of you and your life will begin to transform; then you can’t stay the same as before.

Brahman is in every particle ...

As such it is permeated in every particle, but who would awaken you?

... worship innocence of the self-divine.

There is no need to worship any where else, adorn the worship platter within yourself.  But who would remind you.

Your life is wasted in arguments ...

You are wasting your life in unnecessary arguments

... the end of life made you a loser.

And the death keeps coming closer.  Death could not be won with your arguments.  If you are to win over death you introduce yourself with deathlessness a little.

You have become egoist reading books ...

And you have not just read a few books, you have read many, but those have intensified your ego.  You have not ignited yourself on the flame like a moth, your ego has become stronger.

You have become egoist reading books, all other devices would go worthless.

But until someone hands you over the key, hands you over a device - someone who has known that path and trodden that path, gives his hand into your hand, all these things are worthless and will remain worthless.

Until one knows secrets of other world, six rituals will not make swan reach there.

Until you find some such person who has come from swan lake, no matter how many actions you keep performing - keep doing six ritualistic actions - six rituals will not make swan reach there, until one knows secrets of other world.

When the essence of word brings you confidence ...

And when you will listen to someone's voice - of awakened one, of conscious one - Dariya speaks of nirvana - when someone would make a strike to your heart, then a confidence, a trust would be born.

When the essence of word brings you confidence, then Sat Guru can light a flame.

And then only in the heart full of confidence, Sat Guru can ignite a flame.

Dariya speaks of Nirvana, I say of my own, not reciting scriptures.  He says very lovely thing, 'I speak of my own, not giving discourse on some Vedas, nor commenting on some scripture.  I am saying of my own experience.'

Dariya speaks of Nirvana, I say of my own, not reciting scriptures.

The whole world is engrossed with scriptures, yet you repeatedly incarnate into wombs.

Much discussions of Vedas are going on.  There are great scholars and literary researchers!  How extensively are the Vedas written about!  There are commentaries upon commentaries are written.  And all keep falling into those wombs.  This market place goes on.

Dariya speaks of Nirvana, I say of my own, not reciting scriptures.

I say of my own!  I am not worried about what the Vedas say!

The ones who know always talk their own experience, although the interesting thing is:  whosoever says his own experience, all the scriptures become his witness.  And the ones who only interpret scriptures keep doing injustice and adulterating the scriptures.  Because they have no experience, whatever meaning they put would be incorrect, would be pointless.

There is only one thing, only one scripture, only one flame that you are to seek - that is within you.  Let go of all other concerns!  Seek only that one!

When I let go of concern for comfort, the comfort I found.

What I really made use of my luck was that for a device.

Let go of effort.  Have trust within and sit silently, then what happens with device will happen simply with luck.  What accomplishes with much vigor, happens simply by sitting silently in surrender.

Life is simple, the scriptures have rendered it complicated.  Truth is attainable, principles have made it much intricate.  Do not fall into argumentation, dive into meditation!  Nirvana is your birth right.  Dariya speaks of nirvana.

Enough for today.
