Doctors
work harder than most of the people.They work 15 hours per week more than other professionals.They take less vacation time and work more year than others and therefore have shorter retirement.They also have unique responsibilities and duties.

 
Fortunately, doctors are at least as healthy as others in most respect.


UNIQUE  PROBLEMS  AMONG   DOCTORS

1. Doctors  do  not  have  their  own  doctors
So no one can provide health promotion & surveillance. Self-treatment, curbstone consultations & delay because of embarrassment about professional courtsey can impede treatment.

2. PHYSICIAN   INVLNERABILITY  SYNDROME
"DENIAL"is commonly present in doctors. Its severe form leads to this syndrome, which is characterized by the conviction that personal & family problems, the aggravations, and the disease that affects others cannot or will not affect them. "FEAR" plays an important part in this Syndrome.

3. UNVACCINATED  DOCTORS
They are vulnerable to catch dangerous infections form patients i.e. Hepatitis (84% doctors are susceptible), tetanus, measles & other.These doctors are also notorious for spreading these infections to patients.


SUGGESTIONS TO DOCTORS ABOUT GOOD HEALTH


DO
1.
Get help when you need it. Don't deny ; Don't delay.
2.
Fasten your seatbelt - always .
3. Get
appropriate vaccination for hepatitis B,  tetanus,  diphtheria, rubella and measles.
4. Practice
moderation in diet
5.
Exercise regularly and sensibly .
6.
Engage fully in the activities with your family, friends, and community.
7.
Cultivate your creativity; be interested, not just  intresting, and use your sense of humour.
8. Start
planning for your retirement 25 to 30 years before your goal.
9. Feel free to
relish your profession, and if you   don't then  consider important changes in it.
10. Get reputable, professional help with
financial  planning.

DONT'S

1. Smoke  or take Alcohol.
2. Use  non prescibed drugs.
3. Ignore your family and friends in the frenzy of  serving others or meeting their demands.
4. Short - circuit  your own needs for personal and   intellectual growth.
5. Be only a physician - be a person.
Good health practice not only improves the health & lives of doctors themselves but also can affect others as well. Stopping cigaratte smoking , Alcohol drinking & drugs use by doctors can prevent direct  harm to patients. Doctors personal health awarness help determine advice that they
give to their patients.
