Conservative Forum March Meeting
Location: American Legion Post 419.
958 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
When: Tuesday, March 6, 2007, 7:00 PM

Guest Speaker: Rabbi Nachum Shifren, author of "Kill Your Teacher".

Rabbi Nachum Shifren shared with the group that "Multi-culturalism will be the nail in the coffin for our country. It has ruined our schools, giving license to and legitimacy for groups like Mecha, Lulac, GLADD, and other seditious malcontents bent on destroying our nation. There are a substantial number of Black and Latino educators and administrators who will stop at nothing until they have seen "the last gasp of White America." That means: You and I, and all others, no matter what their race or ethnicity, that care about survival for our great country. We are being balkanized, divided in the classic fashion of the Communist Manifesto, in order to create a society of finger-pointers and victims, necessary to complete the take-over of our country."

Rabbi Shifren further indicated that it is going to take courage and nerves of steel for all those who want to make a change in the demographic makeup of our schools. He said, "Let none dare call himself a patriot and protector of our schools if he nonchalantly agrees with the total takeover by illegal aliens, causing a massive lowering of standards, not to mention the financial nightmare of paying for tuitions, breakfast and lunch programs, schools health insurances, and the corrupted "bi-lingual" plague that has throttled all progress and paths to assimilation. Unless this issue is dealt with in a robust and high-profile manner, we will lose the very character of our society and go the way of the Third World countries."

Our speaker for April was Sally Pipes, a Canadian who has lived in the U.S. for the past decade . She advocates moving away from employer-provided health insurance and embracing options that allow individuals to control their own health care. She explains why following in Canada’s footsteps by introducing price controls on pharmaceuticals and increasing government’s role in health care would be disastrous for Americans.

Pipes writes, speaks, and gives testimony at the national and state levels on key health care issues facing America, appearing on FOX News, “20/20,” and “The Dennis Miller Show.” She has written extensively on the subject, with opinion pieces published in the Washington Post, New York Times, and Los Angeles Times."

Conservative Forum May Meeting
Location: American Legion Post 419.
958 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
When: Tuesday, May 1, 2007, 7:00 PM

Guest Speaker: Ward Connerly, Chairman of the American Civil Rights Institute

Topic: "Race has no place in American life or law"

Our May Special Event speaker was Ward Connerly, an advocate and warrior for civil rights in America. He was so respected by our audience of over 120 people that he received a standing ovation when he was introduced. He has a background with tremendous credibility; and he is wonderfully articulate. His discussion revolved around the topic of "Race."

Ward indicated that race was one of the most sensitive issues in the United States. He cited the incident a few years ago regarding Senator Trent Lott, the accusations made about Hurricane Katrina, the outbursts of Michael Richards, and most recently the Don Imus comments. He shared his background of being born in Louisiana, having his father leave home when he was age 2, and having his mother die when he was age 4. He shared poignant stories of being raised inCalifornia by his Aunt Bert and his very proud Uncle James. He shared stories of experiencing blatant racism in his early years, especially on a trip to Mississippi when he was a young boy.

Ward Connerly believes that civil rights belong to everyone, not just blacks. He referred to affirmative action as a lingering dependence on government. Racial preferences are the last connection to a government controlled life. He feels that in today's America that race is not an excuse anymore. Even income is not an excuse for failure. He pointed out that there are more than 100 community colleges in California, 23 state universities, and 9 University of California campuses. Everyone does not have to attend Berkeley. As a product of both a community college and a state university, he pointed out that one could get an excellent education at colleges and universities other than UC.

Ward quoted Martin Luther King when he said, "Don't judge people by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." He said most people have only heard the first part of that statement, and have ignored the second part. He feels that our society ought to concentrate more on the building of character. While he blames the schools for some of the problem, he indicated that the biggest part of the problem is the failure by families to insist on character and education. He concluded by saying that our allegiance should be to our children, grandchildren and the best interests of the country.

After Ward Connerly's outstanding 40 minute prepared remarks, he also took 30 minutes of questions and answers. It was a real treat to be in his presence.

    When: Tuesday, October 2, 2007, 7:00 PM

Speaker: Tim Morgan , Treasurer of the Republican National Committee

If opposites attract, Tim Morgan and Santa Cruz are a match made in political heaven. On his iPod, the native Santa Cruz resident listens to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and other radio talk show hosts who rail against the Clintons, support the war in Iraq and decry illegal immigration. Busts of Ronald Reagan, Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt sit on a shelf in his Jewell Street law office along with an elephant statue perched on the mahogany desk — signs Morgan is a black sheep in his hometown.

Morgan, born and raised in Santa Cruz, rose to the top ranks of the Republican Party this year when he was hand-picked by party Chairman Mike Duncan to be treasurer of the Republican National Committee, a prestigious job that requires overseeing millions of dollars in donations for conservative candidates and issues. The volunteer position puts him in Washington, D.C. every month, which can include a pit stop at the White House for a meeting with President George W. Bush.

Also, representatives from the campaigns of Republican presidential candidates spoke on behalf of Rudy Giuliani, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson. SVYRFC Past-President Alan J. Hall spoke for the Hunter campaign and SVYRFC Vice-President Isaac Kight spoke for the Rudy Giuliani campaign.

958 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
    When: Tuesday, November 6, 2007, 7:00 PM

    Speaker: Michael Zak

Michael Zak is the author of Back to Basics for the Republican Party, the acclaimed history of the GOP from the civil rights perspective. From the first page of the book: "As you know, Democrats control most of the media, but they also write most of the history books, thereby controlling what even Republican activists think they know about our Party's glorious heritage."

He is a popular speaker to Republican organizations around the country, showing office-holders, candidates, and activists how they would benefit tremendously from knowing and appreciating our Party's heritage of civil rights achievement. His speeches have received many excellent reviews.

As he says, "The more we Republicans know about the history of our Party, the more the Democrats will worry about the future of theirs."

Mr. Zak emphasizes the fact that our Grand Old Party was established by anti-slavery activists, to oppose the pro-slavery policies of the Democrats. To this day, the Republican Party has an extraordinary, though overlooked, record of achievement in advancing civil rights in the United States and around the world.
