Gloves and Boots |
Gloves: I found a pair of your average, everyday, basic black leather gloves...probably in my grandmother's attic. I wear another pair of thin gloves on underneath them to give my hands a slightly thicker appearance. I used the leftover vinyl from my codpiece to stich quilted gauntlets that slip on over the gloves. I thought that they came out pretty cool looking. |
Boots: Vader's boots are tall (couple inches below the knee), black leather with a flat heel. (Of course if you are short, a chunky higher heel is OK, too.) At 5'2", even the highest of heels isn't going to help me, so I go with what's truer to the suit. And, yes, a vinyl boot is OK, too. Use what you can find and upgrade as you go along. I've changed boots many many times over the years. The ones in the pics on this site are rubber riding boots that a friend gave me and they look in need of a shine after their night of doling out loot on Halloween. I finally found a pair of black leather boots in perfect condition at a local thrift store for only $14.99! Wooo- hoooo Such a deal! |
Vader wears black leather riding boots shined to mirror-like perfection by the Imperial Shoe Shine Boys. His gloves, also made from supple leather, have a quilted pattern which has changed from movie to movie. |

Gloves, as worn in A New Hope, have quilted stitching that runs crosswise from knuckle to cuff. (perpendicular to the that of the body suit.) There is no stitching on the palm side of the glove. |

ESB and ROTJ stitching runs lengthwise..starting at the knuckle seam. It's difficult to see in the photos, but the cuffs are a little more flared/loose. No stiching on palmside. |
